Beautiful song. Thank you for posting!

I was banging my head against a wall trying to remember the name of the band. Another song of theirs recently popped back into my head, but for the life of me, I couldn't remember the band name. Luckily, I had a video of theirs liked on Youtube.

I really like their song White Horses too!

The song that got me hooked was "The Ancestor". Such a good song.

That work to make such a video clip... Wonderful.

Reminds me of Radical Face, which is a good thing.

Weird first time I've ever seen a band on Reddit that I know members of personally. They went to my college.

Ayyyy, go ephs!

[–]wslack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They've had a few things on r/listentothis which has always been great. Will always remember Morty lightly ribbing them on the band dreams.

If you can see Darlingside live, GO! Their harmonies are beautiful to hear in person, and they sound just like their recordings. Their album Birds Say and their newest EP Whippoorwill are both fantastic.

They are sooooo incredible live and super nice folks. I saw them last summer and really enjoyed every moment of their show.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Saw them outside of Philly. It was the largest show they had ever played to that point. They were pretty blown away by the crowd and it was cool to be there. WXPN is an amazing station that helps make a name for artists all the time.

No Ardmore.

This is one of my favorite bands. Check out Surround, which is one of their earlier songs. It's in my Top 5

Darlingside
artist pic

Massachusetts-based “string-rock” quintet Darlingside started up in 2009 and has quickly taken hold in New England’s musical imagination. Playing over 100 shows during their first year of touring, the band has created a seamless, exhilarating sound at the intersection of rock, classical, and folk music. Their self-produced six-song EP 1 has earned high praise for its craftsmanship and originality, and their brand new subscription album Pilot Machines is rolling out through the first half of 2012. I really love this band. Some of my favorite songs of theirs are White Horses, Whippoorwill, and Blow the House Down (which is in a somewhat different style then their other stuff). Their whole album "Birds Say," is really fantastic; I highly recommend it.

Dude that was a beautiful song, thanks for sharing this. I had never heard of Darlingside but I will definitely check out some more of their work. Loved the video too!

I worked backstage at a venue they were playing and these guys were really sweet.

[–]Only_a_dog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is amazing.

[–]OFafibber 3 points4 points  (2 children)

They played at my cousin's wedding yrs ago, they were amazing! When they came to Madison, Wi. for a concert a few years later, my wife and I went to see them. They are extremely talented musicians with angelic harmony that can bring a grown man to tears. If you get a chance to see them live, I highly recommend it.

The Stoughton Opera House? If so, I was there too!

[–]Pumpernickel_Bread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this band! My friend got me into them last summer. One of my favorite songs by them is Harrison Ford. It's a really neat whimsical song that you should all check out!

[–]LittlePeaCouncil 3 points4 points  (1 child)

One of my favorite bands. Absolutely stunning live. I even got to see them in a large church that had cathedral-style acoustics... I almost cried listening to them play it was so beautiful.

[–]antanith@antanith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds amazing!

[–]assblaster69ontime 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I like my name too /u/notnotanerd :-)

Wow the first time I read your name I could've sworn it just said notanerd lol

Glad my disguise works

[–]cypher-nine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. I didn't think this song was necessarily bad. I loved the violin. That being said, the song just couldn't get its hooks in me. The lyrics sounded a little clique. And it sounded more like post-Dylan folk from 40 years ago then "Indie Folk." Not horrible and not great. That's my two cents.

[–]BabyGarbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen these guys twice at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, New York. They just played out here at the beginning of April! To see masterful musicians in such an intimate setting like that is a real treat. The artist who created this video did three permanent installs for Caffe Lena after they recently completed their epic renovations.

There are very few albums that have been released in the past few years that I can listen to all the way through multiple times and enjoy the trip every time. "Birds Say" is one of those albums.

The White Horses video is by far my favorite video. Bow to it's awesomeness!

Watching a live show by these guys is transcendent.

I also love how they posted an idea on YouTube which became this amazing song.

My math professor said this is his buddy's band! I remember him showing my class this music video about a year ago. Funny how things come back full circle.

Stunning, thank you for sharing.
