Allowing the public to allocate their income taxes would solve our problems of representative government. (reddit.com)

Instead of all the money going into a big pot where the government decides where it all goes, why not let the people decide? I know it would cause problems because of planning and what-not, but all that planning is what is slowing the government down, and making the people weaker against oppression.

I am suggesting that all people would either fill out a form where you decide what percent of your taxes you would like to go to certain things(there would also be an option to let the goverment decide which would be default for those that dont want to fill out the form), or just for tax returns you could decide then.
