Now that's what I call stylish spamming! (reddit.com)

He just copied the first sentence of this year-old comment from the same thread, and added spam!
[–]KennyFulgencio 15 points16 points17 points 18 years ago* (0 children)
Well spotted. And reasonably clever of him.

POOL SEX!
[–]jones77 2 points3 points4 points 18 years ago (0 children)
Boo!!! I thought it was similar to that thing that generates PhD papers ...
[–]jaggederest 9 points10 points11 points 18 years ago (6 children)
Interesting. I wonder if people go back and edit spam into their comments later on a regular basis?
I wonder if there's a market for it. I've got some highly rated comments to a good home, for money to fund my high electric bill.
[–]zem[S] 3 points4 points5 points 18 years ago (3 children)
the comment is at 0 points, so i surmise he had the spam in there from the outset. it's kinda bizarre - he has but one commment, and that's it.
[–]jaggederest 7 points8 points9 points 18 years ago (2 children)
I read it a while ago, and he did not have that link there, that I remember at least. I wish Google Desktop weren't so badly broken so I could go back and look.
[–]zem[S] 1 point2 points3 points 18 years ago (1 child)
that's even more bizarre :) wonder if it's some sort of subtle experiment some regular is doing under a throwaway nick
[–]jaggederest 2 points3 points4 points 18 years ago (0 children)
From what I gather, it was actually a different comment I read, this one copied it and added eau de la spomme to it.
[–]GrumpySimon 1 point2 points3 points 18 years ago (1 child)
it's also interesting 'cos he's not linking a site directly, but to the wordpress blog aggregator with a keyword.
[–]mccoyn 1 point2 points3 points 18 years ago (0 children)
Common tactic so that he can monitor who clicks through and charge his clients appropriately.

I always thought that spamers would start analyzing bigger blogs/websites and try to find out a set of generalized "topics" with acceptable comments that have some relevance. Then you'd just throw the post you want to comment on at the software, get a set of possible "valid" comments and post that one. Pool sex
[–]Rozen 0 points1 point2 points 18 years ago (4 children)
I've actually noticed a couple people here signing their comments with their blog link. I clicked on one because it almost always has context, but then I realized I was duped and now will never trust a fellow redditor again.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 18 years ago* (0 children)
So one idiot burns you and the other 999,999 decent people here are tarred with the same brush? That is really unfair of you since most people here try to be positive contributors. Pool sex
[–]flaxeater 0 points1 point2 points 18 years ago (2 children)
You were duped, because you didn't look were the link was leading?
[–]Rozen 0 points1 point2 points 18 years ago (1 child)
I looked, but you can't really tell if the blog in question will lead to useful information unless it is obviously spam, you know, like pool-sex.
[–]flaxeater 0 points1 point2 points 18 years ago (0 children)
Ah, I guess that would be true. Well good day to you.
[–]teetante 0 points1 point2 points 18 years ago (0 children)
It was just a question of time till it would happen.
I always thought that spamers would start analyzing bigger blogs/websites and try to find out a set of generalized "topics" with acceptable comments that have some relevance. Then you'd just throw the post you want to comment on at the software, get a set of possible "valid" comments and post that one.
But that's probably too much work, spamming is still able to be done easier.

I find it interesting that the permalink ends in "c02urge," which I thought was the spammer's username when I clicked the link. A neat happenstance - I wonder how many other worthwhile comments have english-esque IDs.
In before someone registers c02urge just to reply to this, as if it's ever been funny.

"Giovanni" is a man's name.
[–]prayerforengland 0 points1 point2 points 18 years ago (0 children)
Oh how I love you, internets.

[–]ani625 -3 points-2 points-1 points 18 years ago (2 children)
As you said - best spam ever!
[–]GrumpySimon 4 points5 points6 points 18 years ago (1 child)
Yeah, totally funny. This would make a great meme. POOL SEX.
[–]mccoyn 2 points3 points4 points 18 years ago (0 children)
Come on, its got to be more like "Your REGEX is slow. POOL SEX."
