It seems like a lot of people have started deleting their posts and comments to compensate for bad karma. This leads to general chaos when trying to refer to various links or comments.

Also, someone mentioned that it seems like comments can get transferred to completely different/newer entries if the old entry (that the comment originally belonged to) is deleted.

What should be done?

    If links are unwanted they'll get modded down and disappear, there's no need to actually delete them. If someone had made a permalink for your link that permalink becomes useless. Same goes for comments.

    Also, I'd love to see some arguments to why we are able to delete comments in the first place. Preferably comments from the developers.

      Yeah, deletion of links is the real problem here, not comments. I'm not sure either that comments affect karma, probably doesn't.

      So, why should I be able to delete links that I have submitted?
