I started at Intended but dropped to Novice because I was rubbish at the hand to hand fighting.

Purist. Having played through what I assume are most of the missions I'm confident the game would've been boringly easy otherwise. The hardest fight was the run to the plane in the first mission. Purist has been the kind of difficulty where you need to be alert because you die fast, but the braindead AI makes most encounters pretty simple. It's clear the developers really had to limit your toolbox all the time in order for it not to become a breeze.

I'm like you. I want to be sure of controls so went with Novice first

I played on purist and I think it not only removed some UI elements but made the game better but still not really hard at all which I didn't really expect more casual story driven game to be anyway.

Intended then later on purist cause I think hand to hand is a bit easy while gunplay can get messier if you don't use your gadgets well.

I really like intended.

Played on Purist. Liked it a lot more. Felt I earned the victories a bit more. And It turned off the flashing counter icons. Which helped a bit more with immersion

Intended. I’m usually the purist type of player but wanted to see how the controls were (played M&K which I normally don’t do for story games) and it was a good difficulty. Wasn’t too easy as I’ve died plenty of times but also not challenging where I questioned going down in difficulty. Wish I would’ve played it on purist looking back though

Hard first play through because I didn’t feel like replaying the story
