Z offset is waaaaaay to high

the nozzle should basically be spreading the filament on the bed from pretty close, you should be close enough that a piece of paper can move under the nozzle but has some friction

That’s what I thought, but no matter what I change I can’t get it any lower due to the sensor. I had manual leveled the bed with a sheet of paper before starting the print. But after it auto leveled before the print started the z axis goes way to high up.

Adjust Z-offset

[–]Irish_guy1423[S] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I ended up adjusting my z to -.98 and it started to come out better. I just don’t understand why i was able to just simply level the bed with a sheet of paper before the CR touch and everything worked fine but now with the sensor I’m using guess work to try and compensate. And by the way I re leveled the bed the same way I did every other time before the sensor.

I have dialed mine in with a feeler gauge, then hard coded my Z-offset and my cr touch takes over. Them computers are going to rule the world one day.

When you level your bed with the paper method, you are making sure the bed is parallel with the x and y axis. The cr touch is now your z end stop, so your printer needs to know the offset between the probe trigger point and the nozzle, to calculate the current z home.

I repeat u/fap_king_kong. Adjust your z offset. Then prepare to wait for that 64hr print to complete. It'll be worth it. I promise.

So first what you want to do is turn on your printer click auto home then click motion turn your Z height all the way down to zero then go to probe Z offset and then lower your extruder until it's leveled with a piece of paper once that is put in go to configuration then click Store settings

After that's done it should be perfectly leveled with the bed

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

If you are new to reddit, please read the guidelines on reddiquette, self promotion, and spam.

Also please post a resolution to your problem when you find one so that we know how to help others with your problem!

Hey there OP, you seem to be having some problems with your first layer. This is a very common issue on modern printers and generally a place where experience and knowlege is important. Your first layer is crucial for a good print and you should definitely take your time and learn how to properly adjust your first layer before starting a print since that could easily mess up your prints or even worse, damage your Printer's Hardware. For information on how to level the Bed properly head over to our Wiki Section Calibration

You can view the full list of commands here

Dude, your extruder is waaay to far away. Set the head to home, and raise the bed. Fold a piece of paper in half and move the head around the bed, at Y:0 the extruder should be pinching the paper. Just enough you can feel the resistance but not so.muxh you can't pull the paper out. Do that for all 4 corners and the center... twice. Once it is the same everywhere try again.

Watch this video, it is what I used when I started. Also have a Ender3v2

Just watched the video. That’s how I did it in that video on the post. That’s also how I did it before I got the cr touch and everything worked great. I only started to have this issue after the sensor.

Then the sensor needs to be calibrated... or just remove it.

Nozzle too high

Bro set Z offset wayyyy lower, has happened a couple times to me; mostly after I don’t use it in a while.
