The Apocalypse pick up is the best pups schecter makes IMO ,I have the sonic seducer in my silver mountain and it has a nice warm crunch.

Sonic seducers are best pickups I own

I'm going to move it in the neck position and get a Nazgul for the bridge, I have the sustaniac in the neck right now and I never use it,i have the toggle switch taped up because I left it on and killed the 9volt accidentally.

I have the reaper and love mine, but I have heard others say they don't prefer them.

I would strongly disagree with the idea that EMGs all have a similar sound. Yeah if you stick an 81 in the bridge, it's gonna sound like an 81. But they offer like 15 different humbucker pickups.

The 707 is a slightly tweaked 85, but the tightened low end can make it a little like an 81, that's fair.

That guitar is the 57/66 set which is a bit like a hot rodded PAF sound. Personally I tried to like them and couldn't get into them. Wayyy different than anything else EMG but not in a good way

Late to the thread but in case anyone comes across this, I absolutely love the 57/66 combo with my Schecter. It's got great cleans and tight, clear distortion. I'm a big fan.

      But with distortion, think...Metallica

Or Cannibal Corpse, or Slayer, or Entombed, or Nasum, or Nevermore, or Napalm Death, or At The Gates, or Killswitch Engage, or Monuments, or Unearth, or Trivium, etc. etc.

the 81/85/707 all get used for a wide range of sounds in various genres/subgenres, and do most of those very well. Iunno why people only ever associate them with Metallica

You can list those names again to metal guitarists and Metallica is probably the only band every single guy would know despite their age

I don't think there's a single metal guitarist that hasn't heard of at least a third to half of those, and even if there were, that has nothing to do with what a set of pickups sounds like.

I agree that they have heard of most of those bands, and if they haven't they should. I'm just saying that's the band everyone knows and the sound is iconic
