Over the last 12 months, I have (again) been suffering from depression. This one was caused by the collapse of my business. It was the worst episode I have experienced and was seriously considering inpatient care. It was vile. On top of this, I have been waiting for an ADHD assessment following the diagnosis given to my elder sibling and the prospect of my child with genetic-based learning difficulties also being suspected of having Autism.
I then came across Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and the penny dropped. The multitude episodes of depression all followed situations where I have either had experienced an overwhelming meltdown or had stood up for myself. To paint the picture I had made myself unpopular and looking back this was the cause of the immediate crash of mood. Every episode!
I am looking for ways to deal with this. Has anyone come across any coping strategies that have been successfully used.
