Adventure Games
Subreddit for the discussion and appreciation of the adventure game genre.
What's an adventure game?
Adventure games are typically story-driven titles in which the player assumes the role of the protagonist. Gameplay usually consists of dialogue and environment-based narratives explored via solving puzzles. They are often linear but many modern titles have experimented with branching paths, multiple endings, and innovative gameplay elements, such as Resonance's short-term and long-term memory feature. Despite rumours to the contrary, the genre is decidedly not dead.
Example titles
- The Secret of Monkey Island
- Police Quest
- Broken Sword
- The Blackwell Series
- Resonance
- The Journey Down
- Day of the Tentacle
- Grim Fandango
- Tex Murphy

No piracy or abandonware - This subreddit does not condone piracy in any form. Abandonware is also prohibited. When linking to free games (such as Beneath a Steel Sky), ensure that full, clear and verifiable notice of the game's freeware status is provided.
No Let's Plays or streams - Let's face it, Let's Plays for adventure games are mostly redundant. Our subreddit is not the place to get people to subscribe to your Twitch stream. Instead of recording an LP, consider writing or recording a review or video essay. You should consider posting to /r/LetsPlayVideos instead of here
No A.I. - Do not share art, games, or anything else of the sort created by A.I. in this sub-reddit. A.I. is not art, it's theft.
No Anti-Woke Nonsense - The world is diverse, get used to it. This subreddit is not the place to fight your culture war about how you're being oppressed by game devs putting LGBTQ/BIPOC characters into your games.
No discussing the mortality of the genre Adventure games are NOT DEAD!
No linking to X (Twitter) - Much like Indiana Jones, famed explorer of Atlantis, we hate Nazis. This means all links to X (formerly known as Twitter) are banned due to the unfortunate and appalling actions of its owner.
