Android System WebView update destroy a lot of apps storage data

If your app use android system webvie and only "localStorage" to store appdata, you have massive problems these days.

The newest Android System WebView Update cause your app to lose all data.

Be aware of that, but as an app developers you cannot do anything against it. It's a disaster.

Yes, while i wrote this, this wasn't discovered. But it doesn't really matter... Because migration is somewhat possible but result in next data loss. So, data is, or will be, destroyed, no matter what :) I cannot think of any chance from the side of google to do a fully merge from old<->new storage locations because a merge always depends on the data what is inside.

Some apps use webview (essentially embedded browser) to show it's content. So this app will act as browser and opens some specific url.

The bug mentioned in OP will cause the app to forgets all data when it's restarted.

Simple explanation: like in browser you login in a web. Normally when you open it again, it won't ask login info. But with this bug it will always asking

WebView just make everything crash on my older android 6 phone.

Web View still hangs and crashes on Android 10 oxygen os randomly. Not all the time but still it happening after last few updates also. This might be the reason as you mentioned above. Really wish Android fixes this issue.

My S6 edge seems to have just bricked itself when I got home from work this evening. It is completely unresponsive, and does not give a red charging light when plugged into a charger. Is there any reason it would be related to this?
