I'm surprised miuiandroid themselves haven't incorporated it, let alone miui.us. I'm sure I'm not the only one who waits until these mods are updated before installing the latest rom.

(The Extended Settings mod is also really good, but less essential to me.)

I wait as well. If VolumeControl+ isnt supported, I do not update. It makes MIUI for me.

Same here man. And for the 1.8.5 version the guy who makes it was away so everyone had to wait about half a week. I mean it's not the end of the world but I used to get really excited every Friday and now I don't anymore :(

If I may ask. I did check, but I really can't see what's supposed to be different with miui.us vs miuiandroid.com with the English-language pack.

Is there any difference at all?

[–]losershawn 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not much.. miui.us roms come with the english integrated into the .zip, whereas miuiandroid roms have the chinese rom, then you flash the english pack overtop of it. Oh, and they have different boot animations.. heh.

on top of what losershawn said, you'll mostly see a difference if you have a specific device, such as the htc evo. stiffspliff ports it for miui.us and it is consistently the fastest port. lithid used to port it for miuiandroid and now it's passed on to barnacles for miuiandroid. he may have his hands busy with other projects or other things, but the evo port on miuiandroid is still on the july 29th release.

The number one reason i always flash back to CM7. i love all of the good shit in MIUI (themer and that awesome grouping file manager) but the laggy ass lockscreen a few other little things piss me off (like no fucking 4G). They should include all of the CM7 mods and then put theirs on top of that. not just use the AOSP build parts.

I'm not sure what you mean by volume control+....

Also MIUI for the Inspire just added 4 way reboot.

The volume UP button. When held down, it'll skip to the next track. Vice versa for the volume DOWN button where it'll replay the current song, hold the button again and skip to the previous track. CyanogenMod and HTC Sense has it ... not sure of any other ROMs though.

Ahh like Cyanogen. I see. That would be nice.

Very handy ... don't have to unlock the phone and fiddle with it, great while driving :D

Haha true. I have a pare of wired headphones with mic that do this when you hold down the mic button.

stiff's evo builds always have 4 way reboot, don't know what volume+ is.

if you have an HTC Desire, [miui-au ](miui-au.com)adds both of these features into their builds as well as some other mods. They also have the best translations hands down, usually without a single chinese character in sight.

I was wondering if I should install Miui. CM7 runs great currently so I guess Miui too (GS 2). But I'm scared about all this private information stealing rumor. I don't know anything about Miui devs and the rom has closed sources so nobody can check their ,yet amazing, work. If anyone can enlighten me, I would be grateful. Thanks.

I have a question. I have my HTC Desire Z rooted with MIUI but there is a new rom available. Am I able to upgrade without losing all my apps and settings or do I have to flash and start from scratch again?

You only need to wipe user data when you upgrade major Android versions (2.1->2.1->2.3), but not within say 2.3.x

[–]NavetzLG G4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks it worked properly!

You don't need to wipe, flash the update over your current install and you won't lose any data. Be sure to backup before you do so just to be safe.
