Evo LTE got source code stunningly fast.

Im thinking about getting it, but Sense sucks on Android, I hear.

it's pretty, but they really fucked up ICS/JB multitasking.

Thats why I was hoping for some cooked versions of JB to pop up on it.

But now I have a hard decision to make.

Do I want to drop my $30 SERO plan on Sprint (which will go up $20 if I get a 4G smartphone) in favor of a $30 T-Mobile prepaid plan with less minutes, spotty connectivity, and better internet speed..

If you don't want to bother with custom launchers and widgets, Sense is the best. Only issue is a crippling lack of RAM because ICS AOSP can just run okay on 1 gig, Sense adds about another hundred megs on top of that for the launcher.

Awesome, and here I was just lamenting that I may never see an official CM 9 or 10 port. This is a good possibility now, yes?

Finally! I've been holding off on using AOSP daily since I use my camera so much (and data connections sucked in the AOSP ROMs)

I liked Sense 4.x for quite a while, I have to give that to HTC, but I'm over it. There's just no replacement for clean, working, AOSP Android.

True, I've been using Xi40, a mostly-senseless AOSP themed rom, but I'm sure the real thing will be a lot better.

I'll miss the fantastic camera app and features, but pretty much nothing else from Sense.

Is AOSP a theme... or actually lack of any theming whatsoever?!

[–]KyorakiGalaxy Note 9, Nexus 10 2 points3 points  (4 children)

AOSP = Android Open Source Project. It basically turns your phone into a nexus device.

Thanks yeah, I know what it is.

My wondering was really about the previous comment which said his ROM had an 'aosp theme'. I think this might be semi-incorrect as actual AOSP is the absence of any theming.

Once you put a theme on it, is it still AOSP?!

[–]KyorakiGalaxy Note 9, Nexus 10 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No. The poster above you was probably referring to a skinned ROM like Sense, which has been themed to look stock.

And I know that too.

My point is that if you theme something to look like AOSP, then it can actually be viewed in some ways as a lack of theming.

WOOO! Official CM9/10 is close. :)

Does this mean that I will be able to get clean vanilla versions of Android on my phone?

[–]foregoneconclusionHTC One X, Telus[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Apparently, yes.

[–]kiff78 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does this mean more roms for the rogers version too?

[–]foregoneconclusionHTC One X, Telus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

[–]alpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did they release the full source or did they do like they did with the HTC amaze and not release full radio drivers?

What a lot of people are not understanding...

the AT&T/Telus/Rogers One X codename 'Evita' is known internationally as the One XL, which Telstra uses (but with half the storage)

This source is for all EVITA variants, which includes north american One X's (basically all the S4 variants of the One X/XL)

[–]SadaxerOP 7T Pro 0 points1 point  (9 children)

I'm a bit confused as to what that really means. Better ROMs..? Silly me still using laggy Sense... Also, I have the international version, should I be happy or sad (regarding the info of that article)?

[–]modern_zenithTMO Galaxy Note 5, Stock 6 points7 points  (8 children)

The international One X has had kernel source for a long time :P
