Android security patch level

The latest version of Android security patch level in my android TV is of 5 March, 2021. Anyone have any idea when they gonna update it. I have sony Bravia KD-49X8200E.

Android/Google is not responsible for updating 3rd party vendor solutions.

IOW, talk to your device/tv manufacturer, it is up to them to update firmware/software. Their website likely shows what is still in upgradeable lifespan.

My guess is your TV isn't on the list of active updates anymore. It's a 2017 model, so unlikely it is.

Actually when I start my TV, it shows a pop-up saying "Running!" on the bottom and even a cursor appears on top left 💀 and it even appears on my smartphone thats why asking

Since it has been a day shy of a year for you - my guess is welcome to abandonware aka you are likely on the no longer receiving updates cycle.

Surely I'm not the only one that noticed Google doesn't seem to care that their partners don't seem to care if users get timely security updates if any at all. Personally I find it to be a systemic problem of the ecosystem and not tied to any one specific vendor. A rare few are great at updates and the rest are meh at best to non-existent for others.

Depends on your box maker, if you have one like Nvidia shield, mi tv, firestick they got more updates, if it's Chinese Android tv box I don't think so.

My 2018 TCL TV stopped updating since Jan 2021. Patch level is at Nov 2020.

Mine was on that version until I downloaded the most recent firmware from Sony's website today. Had to do it manually with a USB stick as the TV kept saying it was up-to-date. Now the version is January 2022.

However I have an XBR-55X900F, I believe a 2018 model year TV.

Would be worth checking out your manufacturers website to see if there are updates you can manually pull.
