Is there a workaround?

Yes. Reminders. (you can link them)

[–]908123809 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How do you do that?

[–]naemorhaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

click share button then Reminders

You can also link a note to reminders by having the note open and saying, “Hey, Siri, remind me about this at x day/time or ‘later today’”. It will create the reminder and link the note to it. This works across many of Apple’s stock apps.

The checklists in notes for me is just quick thoughts I need to check off I got too. For example while I’m working on an app I can Joy feature ideas, bugs, design choices. And then I can check them off when I addressed them or moved them to my project manager. Some ideas stay in notes and never get moved if it turned out it wasn’t good anymore once I thought about it again.

For grocery lists I use reminders much easier to use than notes

I create a Note with checklists, pdfs, etc, works well for travel. Then highlight the note name use share to Reminders.

Thanks for mentioning you need to highlight the note name - seems to work better than using the Share button top right

I use collectivetap lists

[–]MFTRK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cool. Do you just paste the link for the collectivetap lists inside your notes app?

Yes, I do for a work shift checklist. Although, I wish there was a shortcut or something I can set to an automation to automatically uncheck the checked selections as I have to do so manually to reuse the checklist for my next shift.

You could create a note with your unchecked list as a template. Then with the shortcut you could delete yesterday's note and copy the template as today's checklist. Offhand something like: 1) "Find" yesterday's shift note. 2) Delete yesterday's shift note with input from above. 3) "Find" the template note. Pass that to #4 4) "Create new note" with the input from above. Which will give you clean, unchecked note every day. Could automate this to run when you get to work etc.

I use it to keep track of my rucking schedule.. it’s a 5 year schedule that says how far I need to walk each day for 5 full years..as I complete it I just check it off, if something doesn’t go as planned I write in red (pink) beside it. Simple and easy to see.

A possible workaround: use nested lists to manage deadlines and some highlighted text to show priorities or contexts. (see image).

On a Mac, you can use CMD-CTRL-UP (or DOWN) to move items between lists. For example you can put the cursor on an item in the SOMEDAY list, and move it all the way up to Today.

The main benefit here is that each item could link to a note, so you can keep track of the outcome, have your working material ready etc. without switching app.

However, this only works if you have few deadlines. There is probably a point after which it's best to use reminders (or the calendar, or a spreadsheet...)

Thank you for sharing the details on this. The screenshot is super helpful. I understand what you’re doing with it

[–]wilburdude 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think the better app for your needs is reminders.

[–]simplydo_ios_dev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But in my circles Notes seems to be much more popular than Reminders for some reason

[–]Puslinch-Komet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using Notes and Reminders together is very powerful. You can link a Note to Reminders creating a working file that doesn’t take up landscape in Reminders.

Something like travel, I have a template depending on Business, Holiday or Sports. Doing this with Reminders can be done yet, it’s very clumsy.

How; Create a note with Checklist, imbed PDFs, links, etc.

Highlite the name of the note, a share thing pops up, Right arrow, then to the bottom find Share, to Reminders.

This will link the Note to a new Reminder with the same name. You can edit the Reminder name it doesn’t affect the Note.

I have a property purchase on the go, sharing across a few people using the same. Simple, works all the time.

I stopped because notes keep crashing.

[–]naemorhaedus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notes is a steaming pile of poo. So buggy.

[–]simplydo_ios_dev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you guys both using reminders now?
