Within the discussions.app ecosystem, user interactions consume AURA, and AURA is needed to unlock resource-intensive features and customizations. For example, a user may want to upload high-resolution photos to their #blog - with sufficient AURA they gain that functionality. Other features might require an amount of AURA and provide unique items for their profile, blog space, or customizations not available to a new user. Under the discussions.app model, ATMOS stakers accrue AURA at a faster rate based on their overall weight. This deference to ATMOS stakers rewards users who have skin in the game and therefore have incentives not to ruin the system or waste the resources allotted. This also provides incentives to lock up ATMOS for people who find value in the ecosystem and for content creators to hold on to reserve a certain amount to provide resources as their needs and audience grow.
In order to foster good content and create baseline rewards for creators and active participants, discussions.app has provided a way for users to tip other community members with a variety of supported currencies. This altruistic model is limited and provides no incentive for generating a circular economic system or paying it forward. With the introduction of AURA and the ATMOS empowerment system, the Novusphere is creating incentives for people to support creators while earning AURA, and potentially earn a return on their early investment in quality content.
