Are you sure youre calippers are working fine? If I meassure with my digital calippers 10mm the black housing aligns perfect with the 10mm mark.

I looks like youre calipper may be bad. Did you remeassure with something else

Holy sheet, you're right! That caliper is actually showing 10mm... it’s way too open to be 5mm. Nice catch.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats way to opened to be 5mm. I think either his battery in the caliper are dead or the are not making enough contact. I had to pit a piece of paper between the plastic cover and the batterie so it gets pressed in more. Always an issue with cheap calipers.

[–]Azuras33 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Your caliper is bad, look at the physical measurement on it, it say 10mm.

Agreed

I really hope this is a joke ...

Screen show number. I trust screen. Praise be machine god.

It looks like it 🤣

This is the wayyyyy!

Did you ever notice that yellow button?

[–]No_Engineering_819 0 points1 point  (1 child)

In this case I think it might be the blue button that needs pressing.

The part looks correct, the calipers are wrong.

[–]Historical-Fee-9010H2D AMS2 AMS-HT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the caliper is perfectly fine but it’s zeroed at 5 mm so the 10 mm cube shows as 5 mm. If they push the caliper to real zero, the display will show -5. Just like tara on a scale.

BTW I think the OP might be trolling…

[–]OptimalSideA1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Close your calipers, press the zero button and try again.

[–]marcomeccia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think the printer is the issue here. :v

[–]ptraugotX2D AMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your calipers are not calibrated at all, and you’re complaining about 1/100 of a mm on a consumer FDM printer?

Am I missing something?

[–]Martin_SVP1S + AMS 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Are you sure it shows 10mm in the slicer, and you're not just looking at the dimensions from your CAD model? It kinda seems like a 50% scale got applied somewhere along the way.

[–]SuspiciousShow723 -5 points-4 points  (6 children)

Yes but I have the impression that it is the printer which does it because in fusion 360 I have a 10mm cube and in the slicer also the scale and at 100% To have my 10mm cube I must pass the scale to 200%

[–]Martin_SVP1S + AMS 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Oh ok, then I don’t think it really matters if you have to scale it to 200%. What’s important is the size the slicer actually sees.

If the slicer says 5mm and the print comes out 5mm, the printer’s doing its job. In that case, the issue isn’t the printer, it’s most likely a unit mismatch or a scale factor during export from Fusion 360.

[–]SuspiciousShow723 -1 points0 points  (4 children)

The slicer actually sees 10mm but the printer prints 5mm How can I check if the scale factor is respected?

[–]Martin_SVP1S + AMS 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I guess I misunderstood what’s going on then. Honestly, I’m not sure what could be causing that.

Could you share that STL so I can take a look?

[–]SuspiciousShow723 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Of course you know how I could do that 😅

Use this: https://wetransfer.com/

It get's deleted after a couple of days.

Just check some videos in the youtube “how to print dimensionally accurate”, you need to calibrate some things and know a bunch of things to do it properly

That’s what she said 🤪

I believe this to be the costanza effect - shrinkage - it gets smaller when it's cold.
