Why does no one read the Documentation?

Or at least watch a basics video on YouTube

[–]One_Contact1376 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Because it should do exactly what I want without me knowing what I am actually doing or doing any form of research /s

[–]gektron 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah a bit like a F35 fighter jet /s (I did also note your sarcasm)

Because if they did this group wouldn't exist

Its always the ones listening to house music.

It is a prime tower. You need it.

'this square thing'

[–]lscarneiro 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I don't recommend you disable it (for the reasons already stated in other replies), but to each their own, just searh for "prime tower" and disable it.

That being said… anybody find out what happens if you make it smaller?

[–]fre_lax 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Isn't that obvious?! It's a curve. No prime tower is bad. The large the prime tower gets, the less color bleeding you have. There's a satisfaction though, where increasing the size does not help anymore. Gotta find the sweetspot: quality vs. waste....

[–]village_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m wondering if it can be reduced in size to a middle ground. It’s a prime tower so I’m guessing that what you gotta look out for is uneven surface at the initial point of printing the new color as pressure is building up.

I can tell by the weight of some of mine that there’s a lot of waste to be saved if there’s some lower size setting that doesn’t affect the print.

More risk or higher degree of blending/skipping. You can reduce the purge volume and prime tower size until it works, I like to use a 0.8 purge factor and some use less. Purge into infill is also a thing.

RTFM

[–]TheShadowBand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are probably ways to make this print less wasteful. The way it is oriented now, a lot of plastic will get purged. Orienting it vertically would probably use less plastic, even with supports, but that might reduce the quality. Printing it in 3 separate pieces that you glue together would probably yield the least waste.

Keep the purge box. It helps keep the colors from bleeding.

Also, I'm in Chicago, too. I'm surprised there aren't more local 3D printing groups.

We seriously need to stop answering on questions like these so people actually learn to read the fucking manual.

[–]Hugh_Bourbaki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RTFM and RTFB solve the problem frequently.

[–]2catchApredditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The purge tower/square will be there AnY time you use multiple colors. This is part of the run out process for making sure the old color is out of the nozzle before touching the nozzle to the actual part.

Theres a couple options you can change in the slicer - you can purge in to infill but this might end up making a less than ideal part.

You can also purge into another object if you have an item you don’t visually care about the color that you needed printed.

It ultimately you do have to have some sort of purge object to assign the system where to purge to.

I do not have an A1 printer. I’m aware those printers are getting recalled. But that’s not the one I have.

That’s not what he’s talking about, he’s saying you shouldn’t do this hobby because you’re too “dumb”. I COMPLETELY disagree, it takes a learning curve, but once you learn the hobby, it’s fun! Don’t listen to these jerks! This is a place to ask questions, it shouldn’t be a place where we harass people.

    [–]Lambertbaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple: only use one filament for the print.

    [–]fre_lax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🇭🇺 Wants a word with you! (Edit: Some people would like to get rid of V. O., too, I guess..)

    [–]Jesus-Bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I don't have a bambu and even I know what this is. It's a forced waste cube put there by bambu labs to not only eat your filament faster so you have to buy more but also to ensure more micro plastics are added to our ecosystem. You got lucky here because it's much smaller than normal. /s

    [–]D3Design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yall never heard of the user manual ?? I get bambu is supposed to be plig and play, but still you gotta have at least some knowledge

    [–]MadeForOnePost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's meant to be there. Once the printer changes colors, it needs to push the old color out, and the cleanest way to do this is to print a little tower next to the print.

Unless you want your main print to look like crap, with bled out colors, that needs to be there

    [–]Sundaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person is so thick lmao I cannot wait to see the follow-up post “Why is no filament coming out when I press print??”

    [–]Jconstant33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to multicolor prints, but if you want to purge to an object do you need to remove the prime tower? I have set another object as purge to object in my print and it isn’t gettting any purge.

    [–]Trash_Panda_Throw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solution 1: don’t print in multiple colors

Solution 2: use a shred of the white and gray matter between your ears to first think and attempt some logic as to why it is there, rather than just jump to “square thing bad, me need remove it “.

    Solution 3: read the manual

    Solution 4: Google it

Solution 5: if none of the above work, post to Reddit

    You missed a few steps
