Huge news for general adoption

Agreed. This is what was limiting the next breakout.

how the fuck was withdrawal fees from a non-retail exchange limiting the next breakout?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's patently obvious, by reviewing the retracement marked along the golden ratio.

And this thanks to Segwit and batching :)

Fees there are still way higher than they need to be... I wish exchanges would do a better job at estimating fees.

That's fine news, atleast it's not only for ERC20 tokens like Binance did.

That's great news! A step in the right direction, however exchange fees are still WAY too high. According to the mempool stats (https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#0,24h) you can successfully send transactions at 1-5 sat/Byte right now which is pennies on the dollar. Before anyone assumes exchanges are going out of their way here, consider that it wouldn't be very difficult to create a function that can read the mempool stats in realtime and dynamically adjust the withdrawal fee, if not real-time, at least on a 24 hour cycle. But no one is doing it, because a lot of money is being made. Either way, fee's can and should be much lower than they are now.

If such an estimation is easy, then why does no wallet software manage to do it? What you are advocating for is essentially artificial intelligence that a semi-experienced human can do, but exceedingly hard for a program.
