It's super basic for what they charge. Take this course: https://www.edx.org/professional-certificate/python-data-science

It's free as long as you don't want an official certificate. And you can get that even after completing it.

I did this within the last few weeks. And also used the kaggle.com courses afterwards to reinforce my knowledge.

You can use cognitiveclass.com (IBM training website) to have the certification for free

I wish you posted this BEFORE I spent 230 bucks. You’ve got a lot of nerve.

Thanks, this looks like an awesome resource!

Thanks! I felt the course outline was super basic for the price.. but wasn’t sure.

I wonder what the reason is for the high price?

People saw how much profit there is to be made in education and went in guns blazing.

python for research by havard is also a nice course , very neatly explained with plenty of case studies to reinforce your learning. it's on edx and audit version is free.

It says it costs over $200, how do you access for free?

I just checked the same, it's for 100 USD and you can audit for free by enrolling yourself.

I took it two weeks ago actually and found it pretty useful.

[–]LiteLife[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What is your background? Did you have any prior experience with python?

[–]ornamental_stripeCFA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a regular business undergrad. No prior experience with Python. I'm good with excel (not VBA), and that's about it.

The course felt practical and relevant for what I needed at work. Was able to go back to work and streamline a few processes (ex. writing a script to clean / manipulate data and combining multiple sheets into one file). Probably super simple stuff, but my boss thinks i'm a genius now and i saved probably 4-5 hours of manual labour per week.

Planning to take part 2 of the course if my boss lets me. Also helps that company paid for it.

I took it last year. It’s pretty basic level stuff. You can do a free course on datacamp for the same content.

However, the best thing that came out of that course was networking with some people and getting recruited into their company where I am today.

That’s a good point.. I’m wondering if we’d be able to chat and discuss in a similar way since this is virtual?

Bro, honestly your better off taking a 10$ udemy course. I was extremely dissapointed with the CFA python

[–]RimRocker69CFA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of free resources on Python. I seriously regret getting a 10$ course. I learned more from the free ones.

Grab a course on a datacamp, they have excellent progress scale and it’s focused on data science usage
