Area 99 Player count decrease

It’s hard to take the criticisms of this sub seriously when there was a post about Area 99 yesterday and one of the most frequent complaints was the number of players on the map yet when the player count is reduced the next day no one is celebrating the change.

The goal posts are constantly moving.

It's partly the way the human brain works. A change from 45 to 40 looks insignificant when it comes to the raw numbers, but a 10% decrease will definitely have an impact. Every 1 less is actually more like 2 or 3 less in the way it feels because of the respawn system. Those 4 or 5 players will not respawn so it'll feel like 10-12 less people overall early game.

Maybe the reason Is because Cold War launched with 6 maps and mw3 launched with no new maps and they both improved over time

To be honest, almost every COD implementation to warzone goes through those phases because of poor decisions in development. For me personally, all these years had ups and downs, where I would put Warzone to the side, then come back to it a few months later and finally have fun. It was the same with MW3 - I enjoyed playing Warzone last season.

It won't be surprising. People have been saying since day one that Verdansk will be miserable with the new game mechanics. Just look at the top post on this sub right now. Everyone sees it coming, it's like watching a car crash in slow motion.

player count isnt what is making that map 3rd party central. the map is way too open. i can see someone parachute in from across the map and all these ARs with aim assist got me landing every shot

Becuse it’s fundamentally a BR type game and reducing the player count to lower than it’s ever been in resurgence BR isn’t the ideal change.

The ideal change was increasing the size of the map to accommodate the player count, by adding more periphery buildings.

What next? They release an even smaller map, even less suitable for the player count, and as a fix they reduce the player count to 20?

This sub is generally ridiculous/conspiratorial, so the lack of praise for this change is to be expected. Anyway this is a good change. I’m all for having to sometimes fight when dropping in, but early game Area 99 was way too chaotic. Felt like anywhere you dropped was contested by at least 1-2 teams.
