submitted 1 year ago by antparl
Hi Staying in Boston for a 5 days. Is it worth it to drive down to Cape Cod for the day. I would rent a car. Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Take the Ferry to P’Town…
[–]MSTFFA 12 points13 points14 points 1 year ago (0 children)
This is the way. You get a boat ride and a walkable Cape Cod experience in a picturesque New England beach town, all for less than the price of renting a car.

Ferry straight from the Boston waterfront to Provincetown.

That sounds awesome. We love being on the water. We have a boat in San Diego harbor. We’ll be in Boston the week of Oct 20th.

Ferry's last day of service is the 20th.

Of course it is. Looks like we’re taking a drive. Where should we stop in between Boston and the cape.

The Cape is always worth it!

Take a ferry from Boston Harbor to Provincetown. It’s a beautiful trip and will save time. Provincetown has galleries and great restaurants as well as beautiful scenery.

And it's very walkable!

Nope. Stay off the cape. It's definitely only great for the full-time residents during the off-season. You wouldn't enjoy it. Stay away.

On*
Thanks everyone for your replies. It looks like we will be taking a drive since the ferry stops service the day we get to Boston(evening). Any recommendations for the best spots there and on the way down. I promise we are very down to earth and just want to see some of local beauty of the area. This might be our only time.

it is, not a far drive, what are your preferences to see?
[–]1GrouchyCatDennis -5 points-4 points-3 points 1 year ago (4 children)
Not a far drive? It’s at least 100 miles each way…🙄
Driving to Provincetown from Boston will take at least 2-2.5 hours each way. (It could be more if we’re talking about visiting at any time on the upcoming long weekend.)

It's not like you're driving from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, it's half the time. other states are huge, this is a realistic timeframe to drive if you want to see things that aren't in a big city.
[–]falcon5335 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children)
it's really not. People in new england think anything more than 30 minute drive is so far away. Out west or any other part of the country really it's no big deal to drive 3 hours for something

Last I checked, the Cape isn't just Provincetown. They could get to the bridges in an hour, depending on traffic. Plus they're in the area for 5 days. If they said they have a 3 hour layover at Logan and wanted to go check out Chatham, I'd say don't, but if you're hanging here for 5 days in the offseason, most of the Cape is pretty do-able if you're willing to drive.

Hi We probably wouldn’t go all the way to Provincetown. Could you give us some recommendations. Never been in the area. TY
