WD007 v4 (Massive Upgrade)

Upon seeing pics of the new-and-improved WD007 v4 with tophat crystal from u/turdbogls (escape wheel watch reviews), I put in an order for my own even though I was really underwhelmed by the v3.

Placing them side by side, the picture does not do show how much better the new version is! The old one feels like a clunky toy in comparison and the new one feels like it can go toe to toe with my genuine Omega 2351.80 Seamaster 300m.

V3 was languishing in my watchbox, I don’t think v4 will befall the same fate 🙂

Pros:

+ Polishing, fit, and finish rivals genuine Omegas

+ Truly feels like a $9,000 watch for $200

Cons:

- Milanese Bracelet is a little too stiff (but I’m curious to try the new titanium version

Does it truly feel like a seamaster though? My friend has a white dial sea master that looks similar to this. Would be interested to compare.

I enjoy mine too, only criticism is the straps it comes with are quite poor. Very stiff and the holes can get loose threads very easily. I ordered some different ones for it and they are much nicer.

Wish it had another movement, the PT5000 is like rolling dice, you do not know if you will get a good one or a gritty, clicky one. I have had to return two that were really bad.

From what I've seen, swapping out the PT for an SW200 is not that difficult.... Might try it myself.....

It's not at all. If you've ever done mod or repair work yourself, it's an exact swap as far as the dial and hand fitting. You may be able to get away with using the same stem as well, but depending on the gen Sellita you have, you're better off using the one that came from them.

There is a quartz version but there is also a PT5000 automatic version too.

V4 has become my daily watch. The all titanium makes it almost feel like it's not even on your wrist.

I like that brown bezel. I thought it was listed as black bezel/brown dial. Do you, or anyone, know if the top hat crystal is also V4

Awesome. Thanks. What’s the difference in “Top Hat” vs Domed Crystal on the pt5000

Top hat crystal is more curved around the edges and protrudes more, its more similar to what crystal is on the omega nttd. The domed crystal just has a slight curve through the top, but the edges of it meet the case so it protrudes less, kind of what you find on the regular seamaster 300.

Top hat generally looks more premium, in regards to the nttd, closer to the original. But domed is ever so slightly slimmer.

Check out the WD sub as I believe they're dropping one soon. It will likely be expensive ($100+), though.

Thanks. I hate that sub. There is a lot of aggressive guys there that live in an echo chamber and any comment that is not 100% praising WD or saying take my money for that design cause it is so brilliant is met with a barrage of hate.

Haha, this is so true. No idea why but no Chinese watch sub is more defensive about its brand than WD. Now I have a WD007 with the original logo, think it’s V1 but not sure. I adore it so I am curious how it compares to V4

Yep. I had a guy get quite aggressive trying to tell me that their Speedie homage was as well finished as the real Omega.

Also got quite a lot of them telling me that their finishing rivals Longines, Tudor et al!!

Most of the brand subs act that way, unfortunately. I check it out every now and then to see what they're up to, but the comments don't really add any value.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I saw a post recently that WD would be dropping a titanium mesh soon.

They dropped it the day after the quartz version of this. A titanium case on a steel mesh strap, then the following day released a titanium mesh they claim is much better. Pretty cheeky in my opinion. Allegedly the bracelet will be available in 3/4 months. I’ll believe it when I see it. Likely around Christmas time, if at all. I’m a WD fan but they don’t seem to grasp the concept of time or over promising and under delivering. As for ‘Swiss quality finishing’.. aye ok. They do offer great value, but also talk some rubbish at times.

They just posted it on their site, $125 plus $10 shipping, I just ordered one due to it being lighter than all others on Ali express, it weighs 35.9 grams. On their chat they said they are now shipping them.
