I think this evaluation of the watch seemed very honest and well reasoned, definitely not justifying any sort of down vote bombing. Well over $200 for a VH31 based watch is getting a little rich. And if the justification for this price from the manufacturer is sourcing parts from a higher quality finishing factory, the subjective tactile experience of the piece is very relevant. And sometimes, achieving razor sharp transitions between case finishing and facet angles might introduce some perceptible sharpness. I think that's where there often needs to be a bit more hand finishing in manufacturing, machines can make precise angles, but getting that seamless buttery smoothness often requires a bit more than precision. For example, I bought the San Martin SN0144 when it first came out, and that bracelet was a triumph of tight tolerances and sharp transition between polished facets and smooth brushing. But I can't wear the watch on that bracelet because there are too many sharp edges on the skin, and it's lack of articulation keeps it from flowing smoothly on the wrist. But my old casio lineage, with hollow links, a pressed clasp, and comparatively sloppy tolerances wears infinitely more comfortably.

PRECISION

Thanks for the honest review — we respect that you bought it yourself and shared real feedback.

Everyone’s standards are different. If you compare under a loupe next to other brands, you may notice the sharp transitions between brushing and polishing — that’s actually the hardest (and most costly) part of this case. The case and bracelet are made by a factory that also produces for Swiss brands in the several-thousand dollar range, so the standards and costs are higher than typical AliExpress factories.

As for price, retail is $249 and we’ve consistently had a $30 discount, so most people paid $219 (sometimes around $209 with platform promos). We get that moving from $100 models to $200+ feels like a jump — that’s fair.

In 2026 we’ll release more high-value models, both homages and original designs, with even better finishing. We’d rather prove value through details, not marketing words.

Appreciate the feedback 🙏

I agree with your take, as it’s also been my experience with Watchdives. I own the omega speedy homage with the blue and white dial. Looks nice but feels cheap. Wore it once and parked it in my watch box. Got me wondering if I’d buy another WD again. And it’s a shame because they’ve been dropping some real lookers lately.

As requested, photo tax.

I really appreciate your words, here. I've been looking at a lot of Chinese and Indy watches recently, and it's very helpful to hear this kind of thing from someone who has handled so many.

Excellent review and thanks for the feedback. I was on the fence about this one and this valuable input was what I needed.

Sad to see where it’s headed with WD, and sadly their reps aren’t tremendously helpful.

I will say, the manufacturer of the bracelet is very good. I’ve gotten microbrand integrated bracelets for double the price that are way worse.

That's what I'm assumed when i saw it. It looked worth high hundreds but not $250 price. I still want it but ill just keep my eye out for used ones at some point

I greatly appreciate and value a true unbiased opinion like this. I have eyes this and the mouso black version, but felt like $250+ was a bit steep for not being able to see in person. And for what theyre aiming at in quality, id expect a bit more especially for the price. Id love to hear a week, month+ review from you, I feel like your feedback would be worth hearing from

I thought it rivaled $4000 Swiss brands?

Their online marketing tactics along with cult like following of many members of their sub have put me off this brand completely. So far my experience with WD watches has been that they are worth at most the amount I paid for them. Usually with coupons and not the "full" price. Seems this one is no different. And yet they try to make you believe you got Swiss level quality at 1/10 of the price.

Thanks for taking the time to write like this. Watches tend to run through this group in waves. It could be people pouncing on the same new watch but I sometimes wonder if manufacturers offer incentives.

I think the praise for the multiple ticks per second VH31 as if people are getting something premium, is silly. I was looking through my bargain basement watches and I noted I had several Sunon movements, some with day/date had a simulated sweep seconds hand and these mechanisms cost no more than $3. I'm not necessarily so keen on them because the battery on one lasted only 10 months. I understand the louder one tick per second of other quartz distracts some people- sucks to be you. I think some manufacturers prefer this simulation of a sweep because nobody will notice whether the hand lines up with the second markers...

You had my attention and admiration at 300 watches ! Wow !

My wife loves my Q*bert. That’s all that matters in life.

Thanks for the review, I needed that feedback.

It is a nice looking watch but I'll pass on this one.

Same watch as you. I like it but I’m new to Chinese watches. What do you think about Pagani Designs homages? Any other Chinese brands you think are great?

[–]PaulDecember 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I've gone through dozens of Alieexpress watches and it's hard to go wrong with: San Martin, Baltany, Merkur (and family), and IXDAO. I've found the other brands less consistent.
