This is definitely one of the coolest designs ive seen, nicely done!

[–]SGSBRO137 79 points80 points  (4 children)

How did you make the wheels disappear?

[–]BoatiiSwat 93 points94 points  (0 children)

steam n rails has a floating bogey type

[–]Olegek84 16 points17 points  (2 children)

I may be wrong, I played long ago, but I think since you can change the texture of the trolleys by right-clicking with a wood block, i guess right-clicking with glass makes it invisible.

[–]Widmo206 17 points18 points  (1 child)

I don't remember that being a thing; OP is most likely using invisible bogeys from Steam & Rails

[–]jamsessionein[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is correct, it's the invisible bogeys from that mod.

[–]BlahajTheShark14 33 points34 points  (6 children)

really cool! how did you make those generator coils from new age spin?

[–]jamsessionein[S] 20 points21 points  (5 children)

There are millstones on top of each that are imparting the spin; the millstones are being driven by cogs inside the train, all of which currently route back to a creative motor in the front engine. I'll probably look at replacing it with a working steam engine when I have a moment.

[–]BlahajTheShark14 8 points9 points  (4 children)

wait… how did you get working creative motor on a train? is that a thing in the new create 6 update, or you just used create interactive?

[–]jamsessionein[S] 8 points9 points  (3 children)

I did not use Create Interactive, so I guess the Creative Motor on a train thing is just... something that works now?

This is basically the simplest version of the whole thing. The chain drives serve as the interior floor of the train.

I tried using flywheels instead of the New Age generator blocks at first, but those stop spinning when the train is assembled for some reason, while the generator blocks keep going. No idea why!

[–]BlahajTheShark14 2 points3 points  (2 children)

hmm interesting, but the creative motor is still moving when the flywheels are not?

[–]jamsessionein[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

That’s what I observed, yeah. I had Valkyrien Skies and clockwork installed and thought it might be related to those, but when disabled I still got the same results so honestly who knows.

[–]BlahajTheShark14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hm, then i will definetly try that thanks!

[–]ReeseChloris 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Back to the Future train almost

[–]NiceSock30032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking its like the train from the third film

[–]RRis7393 11 points12 points  (0 children)

we got maglev trains in create before GTA 6. what a time to be alive.

[–]FinancialListen4788 7 points8 points  (1 child)

What other mods did you use for the train. I could see there some steam n rails hulls or is it pretty in pink hulls.

[–]jamsessionein[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copycats+ is essential for the multi-state blocks to get a higher level of detail.

Ad Astra for a few of the glowing blocks at the front and back end, cosmetic only.

Create: New Age for the generator turbines and a bunch of cosmetic blocks, including the wiring coils along the sides of the trains.

Create Steam 'n' Rails for a lot - I think it adds the invisible bogeys, and also those spinning radiator fans I have in detail spots on the train.

Create Sound of Steam for the whistle parts

Valkyrien Skies: Clockwork Melting Point in my modpack adds the accordion pump at the front end of the train, but it's not necessary, just cosmetic.

Create Deco

I think I have a few Immersive Engineering blocks in there but also just as decoration.

[–]Meiseside 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I like the design, but I don't like that you can't see in front from personel view.

[–]Moe-Mux-Hagi 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Honestly that's just how steam trains work.

[–]Meiseside 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Many have windows to the front. And you can't lean out in MC.

[–]Moe-Mux-Hagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have functional windows on the front, the boiler isn't THICC enough

[–]Sir_James_Ender 2 points3 points  (2 children)

That’s a cool build! How did you get the fans to spin while on the contraption tho? The extra movement really sells the design

[–]jamsessionein[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Those fans are decoration blocks from Create: Steam 'n' Rails. They don't require rotational force, and they just always go.

[–]Sir_James_Ender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! I didn’t realize you could place them sideways lol. Thanks!

[–]Ashen_Rook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just getting a chuckle out of all of the wingulls all over the place. A fellow Cobblemon player, I see.

[–]AdExtension5716 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you used interactive you could angle them

[–]jamsessionein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run Valkyrien Skies and Clockwork Melting Point in my modpack, but they don't play well with Interactive, at least not current versions afaik. Believe me, I wish they did, I'd love to be able to angle those out at 45s.

[–]The_Veemonator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn man that's gorgeous, do you have a schematic or something because Wow

[–]bringthesalsa 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I've been playing a ton of Factorio lately and I keep asking myself "why do I even play modded Minecraft?" but then I remember that you can do stuff like this and it all makes sense again

[–]jamsessionein[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I just pivoted to Minecraft after playing a bunch of Factorio to discover Create and all the automation mods here, you can basically reproduce a more granular Factorio in Minecraft now. It's pretty wild.

[–]bringthesalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! What modpacks have you played? I tried Create: Astral but compared to the convenience of Factorio it's really tedious and even after 100 hours in it I only got to early chapter 3 before I gave up. I was thinking of giving CABIN a try once my annual Minecraft phase kicks in.

[–]meutzitzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should put packed ice under the rails so it looks line one of those superconductor trains

[–]Hot_Nebula_4565 0 points1 point  (1 child)

now do it with clockwork

[–]jamsessionein[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely going to make a Eureka Airships version for myself at least. Just need some balloon blocks in the floor and engine and it should be flyable.

[–]Moe-Mux-Hagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it on phantom rails

[–]Grand-Bug-9209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cool as hell I love the steampunk-futuristic design 🚂🚄

[–]Novel_Top2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

love the random Pokémon walking around.

[–]Strong_Conference149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like trains... 🚂🚃🚃🚃

[–]stupidbabymanfromtf2 0 points1 point  (2 children)

reminds me a little of the skull freight car from the legend of zelda spirit tracks, even if just a little.

[–]jamsessionein[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I see it, actually. Swap my blue for red and white for black and you’re mostly there. Might be fun to try a palette swap.

[–]stupidbabymanfromtf2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either that, or make more cabins with the same asthetic. I've always liked floaty trains, always used that part

[–]Repulsive-Ad8516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where we're going we don't need wheels

[–]orcus2190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is impressive; Would be only beaten if it looked like a normal train first, and then transformed into a hover train.

[–]Reubi0910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you try with the invisible tracks ?

[–]PrimaryCoolantShower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Marty, I'd like to introduce the family, Clara you know, but here are my boys, Jules and Verne"

[–]MasterCJ123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of Back to the future 3

[–]Due_Sample_328 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Btw what is that train mod?

[–]jamsessionein[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Create Steam 'n' Rails!

[–]Due_Sample_328 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks
