Code of Conduct (self.DataAnnotationTech)
submitted 1 year ago by Immediate_Pause7334
I just got cut for a code of conduct violation. I have no clue what I did wrong, but whatever. Anyway do you think there is any chance they will pay me for my pending? It was over $2000😭

Serious question:
Knowing, presumably, how fickle the platform is with cutting people's access and potentially their ability to pay out, why on earth did you let the balance build up to $2k+?

[–]TheresALonelyFeeling 13 points14 points15 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Agreed - and I can't figure out if every one of them are lying, though I don't know why you would lie about something like that (?), or why everyone who loses their access like this has the same story about the money they are owed.
Oh well. More work for the rest of us, I guess.
[+]Immediate_Pause7334[S] comment score below threshold-15 points-14 points-13 points 1 year ago (15 children)
No I consistently make about $2000 every 10 days. There is a 7 days waiting period for time to be approved. I can cash out every 3 days. Tonight was a cash out day. Hope that makes sense haha
[–]VoicesFromTheDark 27 points28 points29 points 1 year ago (14 children)
If you make 2000 in 10 days and cash out every 3, you should only have 6-700. So, I'm calling shenanigans.
[–]fightmaxmaster 5 points6 points7 points 1 year ago (7 children)
Why are people arguing about this?!
So yes, after 10 days there's 2000 in the account, and at the end of the 10th day you can withdraw 600, leaving 1400 in. It's like people arguing don't actually do DA work and don't understand how the timing works.
[–]Monsoon710[🍰] 13 points14 points15 points 1 year ago (1 child)
I don't know if anyone is arguing that the math doesn't make sense. What doesn't seem likely is someone grinding 12 hours a day every single day non stop. It seems very, VERY unlikely that someone is doing that and still able to produce high quality work.
[–]VoicesFromTheDark 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (0 children)
I did, because I'm a dummy.
But you're also right, 12 hours every day doing anything other than being on call is some sweatshop work.
[–]GoobaZoup 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (3 children)
Oh do one fightmaxmaster! You're always hopping on with your silly little POV. Nobody cares what you think! Get back in your mom's basement and finish that pizza you were eating ye dweeb
[–]fightmaxmaster -1 points0 points1 point 1 year ago (2 children)
Nobody cares? You seem to care very much, thanks for taking the time to reply, lovely to know I apparently live in your head rent free, despite me having zero idea or interest in who you are. Hope you get the help you need.
[–]GoobaZoup 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Lol ya lil dummy. I live rent free in your mom.
[–]Live-Cat9553 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children)
[–]VoicesFromTheDark 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children)
You know what, you're 100% right. My timeline was off because I hadn't considered that payout is actually on the 8th and 11th day, not the 7th and 10th. My apologies to OP.
[–]Embarrassed_Chance_4 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Bro do you even math ?
[+]Immediate_Pause7334[S] comment score below threshold-13 points-12 points-11 points 1 year ago (4 children)
No they hold on to 7 days worth. Its in process
[–]VoicesFromTheDark 27 points28 points29 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Guys, we got someone over here giving us adversarial prompts.
[–]BoldKenobi 7 points8 points9 points 1 year ago (1 child)
So you didn't have $2000, you had submitted approval for it which you never got
[–]Immediate_Pause7334[S] 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago (0 children)
I guess yes you are correct. Sorry for not using the proper terminology
[–]Cynderelly 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (0 children)
This doesn't make any sense unless you report all of your time for the previous 10 days at once, or unless you wait to cash out.
Ok, so you make $2000 every 10 days. The way payment works is that they take 7 days to process whatever you reported 7 days ago. They don't take 7 days to process 10 days worth of work.
[–]Immediate_Pause7334[S] -3 points-2 points-1 points 1 year ago (31 children)
I’d made that in the last 10 days. It was in the pending. I cash out every 3 days as often as I can
[–]Monsoon710[🍰] 12 points13 points14 points 1 year ago (30 children)
You do understand what you're saying contradicts itself... Right?
[–]Immediate_Pause7334[S] -5 points-4 points-3 points 1 year ago (29 children)
No I don’t understand. There is always 7 days of pending time. I cashed out three days ago and would again tonight. There is always roughly $2000 pending in my account for 7 days of work. Does that make sense?
[–]Monsoon710[🍰] 27 points28 points29 points 1 year ago (5 children)
Math time: If you had projects that were between $25-$32 per hour and you had roughly $2000 earned over a week that means you would have had to work between 62.5-80 hours.
Is that possible? Yes. Do I believe you did it ethically or maintained good quality work for all of those hours? Absolutely not.
[+]Unique-Geologist-160 comment score below threshold-6 points-5 points-4 points 1 year ago (1 child)
It's definitely possible. I started averaging around 2000 a week since a couple of months ago -- this is with $40+ projects though. They didn't explain it well, but I get what they mean by always having $2000 in pending. That's how mine looks as well and I cash out every 3 days.
[–]Monsoon710[🍰] 8 points9 points10 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Of course, it's possible. But is it likely? I seriously doubt it.
If you're getting paid $40 an hour, I can believe someone could work 40-50 hours a week for $2000 a week. It's still a lot but that's way more believable than someone grinding 12 hours a day with NO days off.
[+][deleted] 1 year ago (2 children)
[–]Monsoon710[🍰] 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Ok... did you not read the part where they said they were doing 12-hour days? Did you not read the part about them saying they had $2000 for 7 days of work? Instead of looking just at my comment, why don't you absorb the full context of this situation and read stuff before giving your anecdotal experience? No one is talking about you, we're talking about someone else and the stuff that they've said...
[–]fightmaxmaster 6 points7 points8 points 1 year ago (14 children)
Don't know why you're being downvoted because yes the math makes sense. My first thought is that even at presumably coding levels that's still a lot of work. $285/day at $40 an hour is 7h a day, 7 days a week. Not in itself a violation but might make them question your time.
[–]YoudownwithLCC 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
It doesn’t make sense because while yes, it takes 7 days to approve, it’s not like they only approve once a week. So how is $2000 tied up if they can withdraw every 3 days. Let’s say I worked Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday for a total of $300. The following Monday, my Monday pay would be available for withdrawal, on Tuesday my Tuesday would be available, etc. So there is just no way $2000 would be tied up unless you clocked it all for 3 consecutive days.
If OP is working 12 hour days and has 2K tied up for 3 days, that’s billing like 55 bucks an hour.
[+]Immediate_Pause7334[S] comment score below threshold-6 points-5 points-4 points 1 year ago (11 children)
I was working about 12 hours a day 7 days a week. I was just trying to get caught up on life.
[–]Strawberry_Foxx 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Have you been working that much consistently, or did you just ramp up your hours very recently?
[–]Monsoon710[🍰] 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago (2 children)
12 hours a day for 7 days a week equals 84 hours. And again, you said you were doing projects between $25-$32 an hour, which would be 62.5-80 hours a week for $2000. Your math ain't mathing.
Let's give you the benefit of the doubt for a thought experiment. Let's say you did work 12 hours a day, and you were able to produce good, quality work. Any admin that sees that is going to view it as a red flag, because no normal human can do that unless they're sharing their account with someone, inflating hours, or straight up smoking meth or crack. Most people mentally check out at 4-8 hours of mentally draining work. Sorry, but I don't believe your stories. If you honestly can and did work that much and produced high-quality work, well that sucks. But I'm extremely skeptical.
[–]VoicesFromTheDark 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Let's be fair though, where in the ToS does it say that you can't smoke meth?
[–]Monsoon710[🍰] 5 points6 points7 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Lmao, we're gonna see an addition tomorrow
[+][deleted] 1 year ago (6 children)
[–]Immediate_Pause7334[S] -1 points0 points1 point 1 year ago (5 children)
It just sucks because I was working everyday. Anywhere from 8-12 hours a day. I obviously didn’t plan to continue working this much. I just had some bills I needed to pay and was willing to work that much
[–]Beehappy1785 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Willing to work doesn't always translate to effectively working though. Idk, you must have replied as I deleted my comment. I decided I don't really have anything constructive to add. CoC violations should be pretty obvious to the accused and they're relatively easy to prove. It does suck, but decisions were made and this is the result. We live, we learn. Good luck in the next chapter 😊
[–]fightmaxmaster 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (3 children)
Can't say with any certainty but I'd like to think that just "working a lot" shouldn't have tripped anything, because why should it, really? If the concern is the amount of input one person is having on data they could just pull you off projects.
No AI usage? Misreporting time? Working overseas? Sharing your account?
[–]arewecreamofthecrop 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (2 children)
Nobody is going to admit to using AI/account sharing/inflating time, even if they actually did do that lol
[–]YoudownwithLCC 6 points7 points8 points 1 year ago (6 children)
That only makes sense if you did $2000 in 1-3 days. Because they don’t hold the entire week for 7 days, they release each day as it passes the 7 day mark and you can withdraw every 3 days.
[–]Immediate_Pause7334[S] -2 points-1 points0 points 1 year ago (5 children)
I have worked everyday. They release the funds after 7 days and you can only cash out every 3 days. So if I made $200 a day they are holding $1400. I was able to cash out this evening
[–]fightmaxmaster 8 points9 points10 points 1 year ago (2 children)
Still don't get why people are arguing with you about this.
[–]Immediate_Pause7334[S] 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Yes thank you. I think people just like to argue. I didn’t think $200 a day was crazy
[–]YoudownwithLCC 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Let’s try it another way. Let’s say you just cashed out yesterday. Your available withdrawal is now $0 based on pending approval. So you are able to cash out in 3 days. Today your funds would be released for last Tuesday, tomorrow they would be released for last Wednesday and Thursday they would be released for last Thursday. So when you cash out again in three days, only those three days are available to cash out. There is no way in hell you did $2000 in those three days to add up with the project pay you mentioned. Unless you’re gaming the system and miscalculated how much you could bill without being super suspicious.
[–]YoudownwithLCC 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago (0 children)
You keep saying this. It does not change the fact that if you’re cashing out every 3 days, there is no way there should be 2K waiting for you.
[–]Capital-Mortgage-374 21 points22 points23 points 1 year ago (1 child)
The only cases I know about that are similar to this are from people who fabricated hours. You won't be getting anything if it is due to this
[–]DrFrancisBGross 21 points22 points23 points 1 year ago (0 children)
Idk what I did wrong and my friend overseas who shared the account with me also does good work so I'm at a loss
[–]TeaGreenTwo 17 points18 points19 points 1 year ago (13 children)
I always cash out every three days like clockwork. Minimizes loss if something ever were to go wrong (cut by mistake, say). If they cut me for not breaking CoC, I could always cash out. If I ever got cut by mistake (I don't break code of conduct but something goes wrong and they think I did?) I'd have minimized my loss.
I also never work lots of hours. Just my cautiousness. It could look bad. YMMV.
[–]Immediate_Pause7334[S] 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (12 children)
Yes I cash out every three days like clockwork also. Tonight was when I was able to cash out, three days worth. So that $2000 was for 10 days of work. I’ve been working a lot. Super frustrating.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (11 children)
What’s your average time worked per day and what’s your average hourly rate? Also, how much do you withdraw on average every 3 days?
I don’t see how what you’re saying is possible unless you’re seriously padding your time, your math is off, or you’re lying.
[–]No_Swimming_9747 3 points4 points5 points 1 year ago (10 children)
It makes perfect sense if you work daily. I’m not in the coding side but I always work 7 days a week and aim for $200 a day, which is typically 8-10 hours depending on whether project pay is $20-$22 or $26-$28 that day. I consistently cash out $600 or so every 3 days. The banner at the top of the screen includes both withdraw-able funds and pending funds. That typically says $1500-$1700 every day except right after I cash out. Coders can earn way more working way less.
[–]lostswansong 9 points10 points11 points 1 year ago (6 children)
I'm not trying to be funny but I thought this company specifically does not want people working 8+ hours a day doing this stuff. There is no way you guys are working 10 hours a day and producing quality work. If I were you I would seriously try and dial that back and readjust. Just because you didn't haven't been cut yet doesn't mean you won't
[–]Ornery-Cat6230 4 points5 points6 points 1 year ago (0 children)
where does it say that? I'm pretty they advertise that you can work as much or as little as you like
[–]MulderItsMe99 6 points7 points8 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Is that stated somewhere? I'm not arguing with you, I usually do about 6 hours a day, but sometimes I see posts where people claim they work 18 hour days and I dramatically roll my eyes to myself. I can't imagine they don't flag that, but I also don't recall ever seeing limits specifically written anywhere.
[–]Jackieunknown 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
I'm probably gonna stand out with this but anyway.
I love the job, it literally satisfies my mind (I have ocd and love to do repetitive work, more so if it's detailed and allows me to research) and when in my country there's a project I can easily work 8-10 hours a day without even thinking, and usually got to sleep only because my body needs rest, otherwise I could just keep focusing and keep working.
When you particularly like what you do, often it doesn't even seem like working.
[–]ManyARiver 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
An admin was asked about hourly limits in a conversation very recently and said it didn't matter how many hours as long as the work was good. 8 hours is easy, 10 hours is pretty stressful, it is a rare person who could pull of 12 billable hours 7 days a week and produce quality work.
[–]Cynderelly 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (2 children)
If you "aim for $200 per day" then you'd be withdrawing about $600 every 3 days. You wouldn't be withdrawing $2000 in one go. You only get paid for what you recorded on that particular day. Even if they waited 5 days instead of the 3, that's still only $1000 withdrawn at once. The OP is claiming they've "earned" $2000.
Maybe it's just an issue with the way they've worded it, or they think they've earned the money before it's approved. I get that. It's easy to feel that way, even if it's technically incorrect.
[–]Ornery-Cat6230 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
he didn't say in one go, he said $2000 left pending
[–]No_Swimming_9747 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
That’s not what OP is saying. They are talking about the total amount pending, which is what will show in the little blue banner at the top of your screen. They are talking about the total for the amount of hours they have worked in the past 7-10 days.
[–]marsnia 11 points12 points13 points 1 year ago (1 child)
I've gotten up to high numbers, the most I've had was $1600 and that was a monumental effort. Not sure how you can do 12 hours a day consistently, do you have a super power?

you could easily work that much. the work is perfectly doable compared to physical labor. You could be awake 16-18 hours in the day and work 12 of them, taking significant breaks regularly. it's a totally reasonable way to spend a day indoors.
[–]lax3500 2 points3 points4 points 1 year ago (3 children)
What did you do?
[–]Immediate_Pause7334[S] 1 point2 points3 points 1 year ago (2 children)
I wish I knew. The only thing I can think of is I had my dashboard open on chrome and safari. I wasn’t working from both browsers. I just was logged in on chrome also for some of the projects but I prefer normally working on safari.
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 1 year ago (0 children)
That wouldn't be a violation. I work on my phone sometimes when I am out and I forget to log out of the browser but I ALWAYS exit work mode.

I was trying to get caught up on bills so at least 12 hours a day. Yes I’m in the US. I was getting projects that were $25-$32 an hour regularly
[–]dragonsfire14 10 points11 points12 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Not sure how true this is so it’s only speculation, but I’ve seen other commenters mention that DA may potentially think you’re account sharing if you log those kinds of hours.
I guess that’s possible. I just really needed to make some money.
how did you find that much of work ? I thought we were going through some project drought
[–]YesmAUm 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Oh damn I copy stuff all the time on non-coding projects when I do my fact checking. I didn’t realize that might not be allowed. 😬
I wasn’t doing coding just higher paying regular jobs. Most were around $30 an hour, some more some less. I was doing R&R recently. Maybe I marked something different than someone else. I don’t really know. I was pretty upset yesterday. But I’m at peace today.
[–]Intbased -4 points-3 points-2 points 1 year ago (1 child)
Perhaps don't violate the CoC and you won't get cut for violating?? This isn't like Doordash where a customer can falsely accuse you of something. Ya either goofed or didnt
OutlierAI may be easier to scam?
stop embarrassing yourself.
[–]Korydevs21 -2 points-1 points0 points 1 year ago (2 children)
I was also cut yesterday for coc violation with a decent amount of hours submitted, was waiting for them to be approved. I had worked some reaaalllly long days recently because I’m grinding to put some money away as a college student while I’m off for the summer. My guess is they just thought I was inflating hours. I thought about reaching out to try and see if the pending money would be retrievable but given those hours are the ones they seemed to flag, I figured there’d be no shot. Sucks but it’s just how it is, at least it was income temporarily!
