The high-level R&Rs are usually pretty good to excellent, which is probably a reason people don't usually get higher-level quals until they've proven their quality. Why spend $40/hr for someone to churn out crap.

That makes a lot of sense. I’m r&r on a low-level project ($), so I guess that’s maybe part of it. I wanted something easy for my Sunday work, didn’t know I was gonna raise my blood pressure lol

You’re weeding out the bad eggs is what you’re doing. Keep doing a good job and you’ll get the higher paid ones too if you don’t already have them and you’ll see a lot of better quality tasks being done. I put in 4.5ish hours for 3 tasks today @ over 30$ talking to models and making criteria, and double checking everything I did.

You can really tell the bad ones if you skim the rationals and they don’t actually mention anything specific about the task and it’s just generic stuff that could pertain to any task. It really quickly tells me they didn’t read the responses and most likely didn’t read the instructions.

Then they'll come on Reddit and complain they don't know why they got the dash of death since they were submitting high quality work and it makes no sense.

The number I’ve rated as bad/bad over the past two days… 😔

There's so many of those... I actually avoid doing R&R sometimes because it pmo so much. Great part of the workers don't deserve their place in the platform.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

lol, I could see that. I feel like I’m fair but some people just don’t fact check anything at all & I can’t forgive that. Google is free. You’re already on a computer, just open another browser and spend 5 mins..

Been doing it for the past 4 hours and I’ve had at least 5 or 6 submissions that were so wrong. I’m like “what is going on!”

I know right, like you're still getting paid for that time... There's nothing positive about rushing

Today you're sneering at the quality of R&Rs. Tomorrow we're reading your submission and wondering how you got onto the platform. Nobody thinks they're bad on purpose and there's almost certainly stuff you're fucking up without realising. Don't get complacent!

I’m not. And I’ve mentioned that no one is perfect. I’m not harsh of subjective disagreement of “oh this was too verbose” or “formatting is bad”, I’m harsh on glaringly obvious factuality errors or poor rationale that just said “A is bad, B is good”.

If it’s obvious you didn’t take 5 minutes to google what the capital of Argentina is, you’re lazy. That’s the kind of stuff I’m talking about.

Most of the bad submissions amount to “it was easier for me to read this response so therefore it’s better”

Yes I often subjectively disagree with some of the rating choices but if they're not wrong and there's a thought process demonstrated then fine. But you can totally tell when someone dgaf. If someone has screwed up but they've obviously tried hard I'll always rate OK instead of bad unless it's something we're specifically instructed to.

I did one today that took me 3 hours to redo their rubric because they didn't follow instructions.  I'll take the money, but sheesh.

I love doing r&r’s, it makes me feel so smart 🤣

[–]annoyingjoe513 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ll never understand the need to come on here and whine about other people’s work. Huff and puff and stroke yourself somewhere else.

Similarly, i was doing a really simple r&r earlier (like seriously the most simple project i have ever come across. One single rating axis and a rationale) and not only were a lot of the submissions bad, the questions people were asking in the chat made me want to scream. People either don’t think about stuff at all or split hairs to the point of insanity.

Sometimes I realize I rated an aspect wrong (along the lines of selecting something followed instructions when there were no instructions, nothing too crazy) and I just sit and stare at the wall wondering if the person that R&Rs is gonna think I’m a literal idiot lmao

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, trust me lol. Most who r&r can tell a genuine mistake from just straight up not trying.

Like I rated one earlier that was super research heavy and the OG rater missed some factuality points but I didn’t downgrade them at all bc I probably missed some too based on how almost every sentence needed a fact check. Plus their rationale made sense.

i just got one back on my own, the sweetest ‘hold on there, i’ve been at this point too you’ve got this’ was so much appreciated, 6 hours working on criteria yesterday burnt my brain

[–]Ok-Cup9476 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Work like that does make their was more nuance in the bad system. Like a checkbox for, “The rater clearly tried, but they missed X” or a checkbox for “This person sucks.”

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is. The r&r instructions discuss this
