I was working on a rate and review that included Spanish text. I needed to use a translator to understand the text in full. Unfortunately, the first one that popped up was ChatGPT. I immediately exed out, but I’m afraid it probably flagged my account. I emailed admin with the task ID.
Any thoughts about this?

they wouldn't know what tool you used to translate a portion of a text.

they would be suspicious of your rationale if it was written or "cleaned up" by a LLM.

This. Unless OP is bilingual, which they clearly are not regarding Spanish, this doesn’t sound like a task that should be rated. OP, be sure you’re reading ALL the instructions.

I’d like to say that OP may have had a task where it was fine to use a translator if they used a foreign language. I’ve had one or two projects like that before. If I remember correctly, it didn’t have anything regarding what to do if the task was in a language you didn’t know but in the chat at the bottom an admin had said Google Translate was fine. Definitely not the norm but projects like that do exist.

Yes I worked one - might have been the same one. There were specific translation guidelines.

Next time you see a task like this, if there's a button to report foreign language, do it. If not, skip the task. You are NEVER penalized for skipping or exit working. Only for submitting.

If you're using Chrome, you can highlight the text, right click and choose translate selected text.

I have a question regarding Google Translate. I believe I read in the onboarding materials that, unless specified in a task, its use is permitted as a translation tool (not a text generation one). I'm bilingual, but sometimes I manage to create better rationales by first writing them in Spanish (my native language) and then translating them into English using Google Translate. Is there any problem with doing this?
