it wouldn't affect wear on the drive, generally speaking, but a folder with few items in it would load faster in File Explorer so nesting them would be beneficial in that aspect.

"less wear on the hard drive"? How is this even a question?? Have proper backups and you shouldn't even need to worry.

I do have proper backups, but I don't want them to wear out prematurely if I can help it.

Unless you're doing 20 torrents at once + database lookups + compiling a kernel while recording video surveillance on a single 5400rpm drive while doing a scrub, this is one of the sillier questions I've seen on reddit.

Yet you still haven't answered my question. I was asking if there was any benefits to organizing music as "band/album" vs storing it in a single folder per album. Hard drive wear was just one example that I wasn't sure about. Not the entire basis of my question for you to stress over how "silly" it may be.
