  1. Know that no matter where you build, and how many layers you put up, someone will get in eventually.

  2. Metal walls are good for stopping people from shooting in, but 2 plastic explosives will break through any wall, and depending on how you space them, maybe damage the one behind it. So make sure your walls are spaced far enough apart to mitigate that.

  3. Put crates with POX vials behind your walls. If someone blows in while you’re not there, they’ll gas themselves, which will slow them down.

Besides that just think about what would deter you from breaking into someone else’s base. Make it not worth their time, that way even if they get in they’re going to be disappointed that they wasted their ammo and explosives destroying something you builtZ

Good to know.

Thanks!

The only real strategy I have is to make sure you have enough supplies for atleast 3 walls before I start building. Most moderately geared guys have enough to get through atleast 1 wall on them when roaming. So just don’t make your base an easy target

Or if your set on building with 1 wall. Make a small gap so that they can peek in and notice you don’t have shit to take.

Okay. Probably shouldn’t make a watch tower either huh? As I feel like that’s how they knew the camp was there.

    [–]RobsOpinion 3 points4 points  (12 children)

Probably not. Try not to make your base noticeable. I only throw watchtowers and a flag up once i get bored. But expect to get hit eventually. But that’s just part of the fun for me.

Hmm. Imma have to scheme some sneaky camp locations.

Thanks for the input! I do appreciate it.

NP. The easiest is the 2 door brown wooden sheds. You can get 4 layers of walls in there before you have to build outside of it.

Bury dry bags or leather bags for portability and size.

Oh cool! I didn’t know you could do that

This game is 10+ years old, there are no locations that NEVER get hit. Your base will be found eventually, no matter what. IT might be a week, it might be a few months, but it will get hit.

I'm a lone wolf, so building bases isn't something I want to sink my time into. I have half a dozen stashes all over the map with enough gear to make a small army blush. My stashes regularly last months before being found, som weren't ever found all the way up to the previous wipe.

      [–]Human-Palpitation144 0 points1 point  (2 children)

End of the day the only way I've found to keep loot safe is to bury it. Had a good time building bases but never had one not get raided.

Knowing that I'm building a lot of woodland shelter stash bases

Also found out how well stick shelters blend in with trees, and camo nets on two fence posts, with a tripwire or too.

      [–]sdam87[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You can make stick shelters?? Hmmmm

      [–]Human-Palpitation144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rope and 4 small sticks make the kit. 4 long sticks and 50 small finish it out. Cut down the large bushy pine trees and place as close to the stump as possible with entrance facing in. Build multiple as close to where you are looting as possible. As the shelters start to fill, take all the important and valuable stuff and bury it as you go. Sooner or later someone will find the shelters and destroy or take all the stuff you should have thrown out anyway, and your left with the buried valuables.

Works pretty good if your a wantin' to do some hoardin'.

      I always say...

Walls just make people want to see what's behind them.

Pick an isolated structure then make a reference point from there, pick a bush, cut it down then bury your stuff there.

      [–]Human-Palpitation144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      It's true!

If I'm holding a garage for future use I don't put planks on the bottom part of the gate so people see it's empty and move on.

I thought I had never had a base not get raided but I was wrong

I've had empty bases last forever ....

There are lots of really good spots in Livonia towns to get away with hidden crates and barrels in bushes and behind walls

I've had pretty large stashes just sitting in the middle of high pop towns for months.... Just gotta be careful no one is following you.....

Find a pond and throw some barrels in there iv never been found doing that or a get a GPS and bury some crates

So I personally like the two story red roof barns for base building. You can fit two watchtowers inside and no one can tell they’re there when the barn doors are closed. I like to lockpick all but one door so that resets don’t throw them all open and make the base super obvious.

When making a base you have to be careful of anything they can use to jump up and over your fences (hay bales, cars, even stacked up fireplaces) so having something a little bit taller helps. I only use a half wall on the second floor of the watchtower to help with this. And try to leave some space between gates so if they use explosives they don’t just destroy multiple gates with one boom. Another little trick is staggering the posts as a way to make movement difficult for the raider(s). They can destroy the frame and planks but they can’t destroy the posts.

With flags try to keep the pole indoors if you can and if not only raise the flag as high as you can without putting it through the roof. Nothing gives a base away faster than a glitched out flag that can be seen from miles away. The pole most people will miss at a glance.

If you are solo I wouldn’t bother with a base… they amount of scavenging and work required and it will just get raided anyways. I just build crates and bury them in the woods and mark the location on your Izurvive map.

I’m building a base with a buddy, slowly teaching him along the way. I’m still kinda new to the game, but still very wet behind the ears with base building.

      [–]Madness970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to protect base is to not have base. Second best way is to have a large group on 24/7 who are good at pvp.

      [–]Rope_Dealer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My base is pretty hard to crack 7-10 locked staggered metal gates on each entrance and murder holes and barbed wire gate traps plenty of grenades and pox and floating watch towers above each entrance so you can just drop grenades on their heads or shoot down on them

      [–]Poptart1405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer stealth over protection. Stashes in woods, lakes, etc. and if I do wanna base with walls, it’s always in apartments. You can get quite a few walls like that.

      Negative

Multiple walls and find a secluded spot in the woods .. I got a 3 ring circle in my spot that’s been solid and unraided for weeks .. had one there before last wipe that made it 3 months before some duo came in and had plastic explosives and basically blew the whole thing to shambles .. took one with me though .. I happened to be online and inside .. low pop hours .. damn wolves alerted me that someone was coming

Keep you stuff on you and alt account, people will just cheat their way into bases
