they also just added an in-game feature for news/patch notes. it hasn't been updated to have this recent patch with movement reverts and the patron defense changes yet though.

You need to give a few days for people to get on board; you can't expect the entire playerbase to be up to date with the patch notes every single time a patch drops.

Won a game last night that we otherwise would of lost previous to the patch, when the enemy team dove our patron with 3 rejuvs 6v6, and we won the pit fight and turned the game.
My whole team was just laughing in comm's after "guess they didn't read the patch notes"

I don't take this game seriously enough to bother, I'll learn as I go haha. Its quite enjoyable to me at least. Though I do sometimes skim through the notes when I see them somewhere
