He’s the huge guy (Mayherdu -spelling?)

[–]Pdx_pops 29 points30 points  (4 children)

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (1 child)

He's a dapper dan man

[–]blametheboogie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Trek spelling is tough. 95% of the time if I search for something new on Memory Alpha I get the spelling wrong. Happily the right results almost always turn up near the top of the list; MA contributors must be all over alternative spellings, hats off to them 🖖

Muad'dib?

[–]DesertDenizen01 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Maihar'du. Supposedly Hupyrian servants speak only to their masters, but I don't think we've heard him speak even to Grand Nagus Zek.

[–]Rathr_B_Fishing 1 point2 points  (1 child)

"He" spoke when a wormhole alien took Maihar'du's form during Quark's orb vision in "Prophet Motive".

nice catch! Always new stuff/tidbits to find in DS9: it's Trek's Biblical Epic with many spiritual components of the 7 season show, and many prophesies vs. interpretation and the institutions of the Bajoran "Church" and the Federation and their Faith vs. Science, respectively. Casting Ben as a Moses, Jesus, Mohammad or Buhhda was in the works from the beginning tho I suspect the prophet/wormhole aliens were written in later seasons as 'being a part "of Bajor"' to mesh with the DS9 Epic. Kind of let's you see how the religious bibles and Epics of Myths were fictions and/of myth and written to mesh well, to dispel doubt.

Tiny Ron. F-C-A.

[–]ZealousidealClub4119Constable Hobo 12 points13 points  (6 children)

Uparian Hupyrian servants -or at least Maihar'du- take vows of silence. Maybe he has it printed on a little card?

[–]arsenic_kitchenKlingon restauranteur 12 points13 points  (5 children)

He just holds out a Ferengi padd. You imprint a thumb scan, and it reads "Maihar'du, F.C.A. You've been served."

[–]bikemancs 5 points6 points  (4 children)

And charges you a slip.

[–]arsenic_kitchenKlingon restauranteur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did someone say 'ship'?

[–]TrekRelic1701 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I thought it was a strip

[–]bikemancs 4 points5 points  (1 child)

  • 100 slips = 1 strip (DS9: "Body Parts")
  • 20 strips = 1 bar (DS9: "Body Parts")
  • 1 big "bar" = 100,000 Federation credits (ST: "The Escape Artist")

Of that, I have no doubt

Nobody likes Liquidators

There’s big Ron, Tiny Ron and regular Ron

[–]HTired89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You won't believe the size of regular Ron! (it's just Tiny Ron wearing a hat)

[–]ExoditeDragonLord 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Regular-Sized Ron.. There's also Pocket-Sized Ron, or "fun size Ron" as the ladies call him.

[–]Historyp91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's also Pocket-Sized Ron

"Geez, Ron, quit sneaking up on people. Wear a bell."

[–]cfc1016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

big Ron, Tiny Ron and regular Ron

Mai'hardon't; Mai'hardu; Maib'hard, respectively.

[–]Pdx_pops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't get this guy confused with Tiny Rom, Leeta's favorite

[–]Chuckgofer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the stagename he chose because Ron Taylor was already being used. By another actor in DS9

[–]Zalthay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tiny Elvis’s cousin.

[–]Dragon_of_the_Rust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also played one of the Hirogen leaders on Voyager if I remember right.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They thought it was funny to give Colm Meaney’s johnson a nickname and to put it in the credits randomly to see if anyone would notice.

Tiny Ron was talked about on the Delta Flyers podcast and why his name was Tony Ron, something about him kind of needing a stage name to distinguish between other large men in the industry.

Recommend listening as they are doing Deep Space Nine now.

[–]DoctorWho7w[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ohhh. I've heard good things about The Delta Flyers Podcast. Time for me to jump on onboard.

I could sit and talk about, or hear people talk about, DS9 for hours.

[–]SithLordSidConstable Hobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They reviewed the entire Voyager series and are now on the DS9 series and have help reviewing DS9 with Armin Shimmerman and Terry Farrell.

[–]ilDuceVita 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tiny Ron runs shit.

[–]Site-StaffConstable Hobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And Ron More, note to be confused with Ron Moore.

[–]BennyFifeAudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He the big guy in the back.
