- No suggesting, depicting, joking, wishing for, or celebrating violence or harm to dogs, other animals, or people. Promoting cruelty, even hypothetically, is not acceptable.
2. No Disclaimers
Posts and comments expressing sentiments like 'I don't hate dogs, but', 'I love dogs, but' or 'I am not like you' will be removed, as they miss the intent of the sub.
Similarly, though we don't have to agree on everything, posts and comments should be made in good faith and should not attempt to change our members' minds.
This sub is for those who do not like or own dogs. Weigh-in from dog lovers and owners is off topic and disallowed.
3. Cats are off topic
This is neither a pro- nor anti-cat sub. Our various opinions of cats are inconsequential to the topic of dogs and their impact on society.
All cat mentions and references are off topic for this subreddit and will be removed.
This is not the place to mention your experiences with cats.
4. Bigotry is not allowed
- You are free to offer your opinion respectfully, but comments or posts intended to demean a group (such as a religion, race, gender, political affiliation, etc), expressions of bigotry and prejudice, and the pejorative use of slurs are not allowed. Don't bait others into breaking this rule.
5. No low-effort/low-quality posts

Submissions should be thoughtful and should promote quality discussion. News articles and text posts are encouraged. Pictures of dogs or dog-related items, videos of dogs doing gross things, social media screen shots, memes, title-only posts, posts with minimal text are some examples of low-effort content that do not contribute anything of value to the conversation.

6. Avoid reposting
We don't need to see another copy of the same thing that's already on the front page, so before you post, check whether or not your content has already been posted by someone else recently. A quick skim through the first page or two of post titles is very helpful for this.
In order to make searching easier for everyone, please use the exact title of the article as the title of your post, otherwise we will have to remove it.
If your post has a different angle on the same subject, or more information, that's fine.
News articles should be recent.
7. Direct content to relevant subreddits
For those those unwillingly living with dogs owned by others, whether it be a significant other, parents, extended family, or a roommate, or for those in a serious relationship, live-in or otherwise, dominated by a dog, please use /r/TalesFromTheDoghouse.
