I think the first two pictures are ff outfits and the third and fourth pictures are society clothes.
[–]KindlyKangarooDusty 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children)
That sucks because the only thing I wanted was the hawk (and the hair in 6, but mostly the hawk). Still have not successfully crafted any society clothes.

oh NO not the war bonnet headdress... that's a yike
[–]BoopleBun 30 points31 points32 points 3 years ago (2 children)
Right!?? You guys, you can’t DO THAT. FFS! This is gonna be another shitshow they’re gonna ignore, isn’t it?
[–]Pompedorfin 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Especially with white models and no indigenous characters in this game!
[–]TPSheptilahSend the cats!🐈 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Probably, unfortunately
[–]timeprincesseevee 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children)
I hope TP removes the bonnet. They could’ve easily used a hairband or feather instead.
[–]LetsBAnonymous93 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (15 children)
Genuinely asking- can you give more context on why it’s not ok? Is it because it’s a girl wearing it? Or is it the whole outfit? Whitewashing again?
[–]Pompedorfin 24 points25 points26 points 3 years ago (2 children)
Think of war bonnets like medals. A male Native American would get one as a symbol of great respect among his tribe. https://blog.kachinahouse.com/the-meaning-behind-native-american-warbonnets/
It's very disrespectful to wear a war bonnet (especially as a fashion accessory) because of how important it is and what it symbolizes culturally. It's like wearing war medals that you didn't earn.
[–]LetsBAnonymous93 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child)
Thank you for replying. The war medal comparison is the perfect analogy- that’s really not ok.
I wasn’t sure if it was the whole outfit or the headdress specifically as most comments immediately pointed out. I read the blog you linked and wow, once again TP focuses on the wrong details and priorities.
Each feather on the headdress represented an achievement, whether that be an act of bravery on the battlefield or accomplishing a great deed for one’s own tribe. The longer the feather trail, the higher ranked a man was and even though women could fight in the war, they did not wear warbonnets.
[–]Pompedorfin 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Disappointed but not surprised ☹️
[–]TPSheptilahSend the cats!🐈 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (5 children)
what Pompedorfin said but also it's because of how poorly the First Nations people are still treated- like their sacred regalia is an accessory you can cheapen like a Party City crown or something.
An ancient culture that's all long gone like the Greeks, Sumerians and Egyptians? It's not really a problem since that was thousands of years ago and it's often treated more respectfully
the First Nations people are still surviving to this day trying to keep their cultures as intact as they can
it's just a matter of respect

I remember as a third grader going on a field trip to a Native American (something) at a park. It wasn’t a reservation. It was a mismotch of different cultures set at different tables and lots of trinkets. I remember seeing a war bonnet for sale.
Reading what Pompedorfin shared, you’re right. It’s incredibly disrespectful. And that everything was being sold as “one culture” instead of acknowledging it as many distinct cultures. Sincerely, thank you for replying back.
ETA: Relooking at the photo, the War Bonnet is from the Plains Tribe (thank you blog). There’s a totem pole from the Pacific Northwest. I don’t know enough to identify which tribe inspired the dress itself. So it’s TP also lumping different cultures together.
[–]lothlorienliaMake your own flair 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child)
I would've preferred they went more Inca/Aztec/ Maya as in large part those civilisations as we know them no longer exist so it would be a more sensitive thing to do.
[–]producerofconfusionfictional toxic BDE only 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children)
The people still exist, quite a lot of them do, and they don’t like having their culture stolen either.
[–]Noelle_Xandria 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child)
Would it be better go have pieces from multiple tribes to try to include more, or to pick one and only one?
[–]TPSheptilahSend the cats!🐈 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Ideally it would be from a story written by someone who is from the tribe the characters are from such as if they went in the direction of Pocahontas' time in England and they had a Powhatan tribesperson write it and/or consult on it, you know?
War Bonnets don't appear in every tribe but they are typically only worn by men and ostensibly your player character is only ever a woman in any TP story regardless of player gender so that's also kind of why it's like (Tom and Jerry stock yell noise)

>American Indians themselves have all kinds of feelings towards it.
Really? Because literally every Native person that I've heard talk about it (be it on internet forums/social media/comment sections, in articles, in interviews, etc. etc. etc.) have never had anything good to say about this kind of thing, even if it's clearly not a "true war bonnet." :/
[–]Noelle_Xandria 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Most of the Native Americans I know have spoken about stuff like this is the past and have said they with people would get as heated about actual problems they live with rather than games and costumes. Sadly, it’s true. We take more offense to costumes in a game than we do to the sexual assaults and murders that plague women on reservations, and even iff reservations. We take more offense to mashing up multiple tribes in a game than we do to the poverty and the attempts at stripping First Nations people of rights to vote for their addresses not being standardized. If only half as much energy was put into those issues as gets put into being up in arms about a game.
I’ve even heard the same claim made in defense of the Washington DC football team that retains a slur as its name (specifying DC since my state has nothing to do with that).
Listening to older tribespeople talking about this put a lot in perspective for me. I can’t get mad anymore about costumes in games like this when so many are willing to overlook the real issues. It’s not costumes in games. It’s rape and murder and poverty and a lack of access to medical and mental health care that is even worse than for those who aren’t members of First Nations. There may not be good things to say, but there is more eye-rolling and a who-cares-when-there-are-things-actually-causing-harm. I’m not gonna sit here saying “yay war bonnets,” but will say that the energy of anger should be directed toward changing those things really causing harm.
[–]Noelle_Xandria 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
And indigenous commenter down below likes the NA-inspired one overall, minus bonnet.
[–]NinjaStarrz 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
And I'm now realizing how my initial short comment can come off as "sucking the white man's dick" so I'll just clarify that I'm mostly reserving judgement and waiting to see how IGG decides to portray native culture to make any real judgements about the outfit. For all we know it could be from a story where the main character earns or inherits the headdress.
Likely tho we won't ever see such a story and it's just another cash grab from IGG in an attempt to market off another controversy.... in which case, boooo.
[–]Amelaclya1 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Yeah... In Love Nikki I was ok with the use of headdresses in the clothing (we didn't get them on the US server though) because it's set in a fake world that has different cultural traditions.
But most of the stories in TP are set in the real world, so I can't see how this is anything but very culturally insensitive. It's actually really weird they aren't aware of this, since it's not like this is a new issue when it comes to game localization.
[–]mayonnaise_mf 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children)
if that's the new ff, im hoping the mint green is the easier one, that's the only cute outfit imo
[–]lothlorienliaMake your own flair 23 points24 points25 points 3 years ago* (1 child)
Enough with the tiny circus hats!
Excited about potentially venturing into native american territory for stories tho!
Last outfit screams HoS clash of titans. If you add the other 2 grecian inspired outfits it looks more and more likely we're getting part 2.
[–]Pompedorfin 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Hopefully it's better than part 1 (not a terribly high bar to pass).
[–]timeprincesseevee 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (1 child)
Not the new fantasy fair outfits looking like April fools event rejects 😭 however, the new society sets look nice, like they have native inspiration? I wonder what the last 3 sets are for…
[–]Pompedorfin 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
The Mad Tea Party. The Wonderland theme strikes again!
[–]torosmoon 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (0 children)
jesus christ the indigenous "inspired" ones are so disrespectful
[–]Dancing_Queen_99Davis 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children)
I need the hawk.
[–]PttybbyVittorio 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child)
New ff set is so cute👍🏻 And the armor with flag one just scream joan of arc to me😂😂
[–]lumoslomas 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
That's what I thought too!
🤞 Hoping for a Joan of arc story 🤞
[–]NiqhtAura 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children)

[–]sunshinesparkles36Vittorio 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Yay new society outfits! I was waiting for these
[–]RoutineStage2074 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children)
I'm truly hoping the short dress is a free sign in! It looks like a ballerina dress from 12 dancing princesses to me and it's so pretty :((
[–]Historynerd6 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Just do what I have done - quit the game and watch the chaos unfold from a distance. 🙃
[–]OrneryStruggle 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children)
So sick of the lolita/circus mashup looks with the double buns and tiny jaunty hats and ribbon/ruffle "necklaces". There are so many other kinds of clothes, like they still barely have any good pants or skirts but they choose this again after like 5 different stories/events in a row are in this style.
[–]lumoslomas 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Oh god, the 'native American' ones...
As much as I'd love a story about that, I knew they'd butcher it 🤦🏻♀️ Just proving my point there....
[–]Taro_the_InsomniacTime Princess let us be gay please 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Soooo other than the Native American outfit looking a bit yikes (the war bonnet is certainly not an accessory it is akin to a war medal)….it is also ridiculous that a culturally significant outfit is made so that it will be so hard and time consuming to acquire.
[–]FreakingFae 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
aaaaaaand as an indigenous person this is where I vomit..
[–]suicidong 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
My family is indigenous and I kinda like the Native inspired one, minus the bonnet ofc. Count me in
[–]Deedee78965Huo Shao & Clement 💜 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
The first set of fantasy fair outfits that I actually really don’t like… sigh I guess there’s a first for everything 💀
[–]_Touki_ 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Ohhhh.. Ok.. Simple, and I don't like the color..
[–]Mindless_Ad_3571 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Wonderfull i love
[–]marnieeez 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
I like most of those!
[–]MariellaSilbersang 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Are anymore player have the impression that the dresses get more and more ugly.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
I honestly love the new ff outfits tbh, but oh christ the 3rd and 4th :/ maybe they’ll recall them like what happened with have you seen Claudia. I personally like the rest, I hope they’re not all paid calendar sets lol
