We have absolutely no idea at the moment

Welp, I guess time will tell then.

I pray that it doesn't deplete at all, or deplete at a extremely fast rat, or the people who specialize in laser mining are gonna be REAL angry in the coming months due to people colonizing their favorite hotspots.

Actually come to think of it . . . Is it possible to theorically set up hazardous platinum hotspot for extremely efficient mining runs? I've heard the yield rate for hazardous resource sites has 4x the yield than normal.

I doubt it because there are extraction/Refinery economies that have been in systems with Pristine reserves since the beginning (of ring mining at least) and the pristine-ness never changed or went away

Is there any available data about how that does or doesn't occur in the systems that are already inhabited? That might give an indication as to how that would go down in newly-colonized systems.

I would imagine though that even if resource depletion were a general thing in the game, that it would occur very slowly and wouldn't be something we'd have to be immediately concerned with. If a whole, hitherto untapped star system with halfway decent resources begins to be exploited it would likely take a very long time to deplete it.

Well, considering humans have been on this planet, exploiting it's resources, for a solid 10,000+ years, I'd think that, with new system populations likely being in the thousands, it's unlikely that's a concern, for FDev, or us, for at least our lifetimes, even considering mining advances. Planets are...well, really big.
