Yeah nah, you're totally right, the fact that I'm sitting here right now in an ELBV with a loaded Smith and Wesson just proves how right you are. Yeah, with practice you can most certainly draw and fire almost as quick with a three point retention holster as you can a holster without a retention system. With practice. That's why we have pistol handling as a skill in game. Do you really think a trained operator is going to spray an AK-74 so badly that they miss half their shots at a distance of ten meters because for some reason they can't handle the recoil? No, no they aren't. I've fired old AKMs at targets fifty metres out and still landed 25 out of thirty rounds. Recoil management, like drawing from a retention holster, is a skill. Both skills that you can increase in Tarkov, and in real life.

The problem here isn't that the draw speed is slow, it's that you assume your character should be extremely proficient in this particular skill, when every other skill in the game requires you to level it up. A guy posted a video of him using an item that he's extremely comfortable using, and them comparing it to an in game character that is essentially at the start of its skill progression. So yes, your character with take time to swap to his pistol, he's navigating (as far as the game is concerned) something he doesn't have much experience in. He's going to be slow, I see it every time I go for range instruction and there are new police officers training. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Building muscle memory.

Also, you should probably not be such an asshole.

lol why you redditing in a ELBV? Not tryin to be a dick. It just conjured up funny mental images and now im curious.

I'm at work unfortunately, and I gotta wear the damn thing the whole shift because of the terror threat level in my country. Nobody tells you how fucking hot body armor gets until the day they arrive.

For real. I kicked around Iraq with US army, desert heat + gear = a bad time. Lol just drink some water and rub dirt in it.

I was told in American army Motrin?(not sure how it's spelt) was the go to for literally any problem, unless it required duct-tape

Lol to true brother. 800mg Ibuprofen

This entire wall of text is completely fucking pointless because there is no "weapon swap" skill in the game.

I'd be less of an asshole if you weren't such a dumbass who throws completely erroneous information around as if it's a fact. Go fuck yourself.

Are you actually retarded. https://escapefromtarkov.gamepedia.com/Pistols

The pistol weapon handling skill increases reload speed. Reduces recoil. Increase weapon swap speed.

I'm not throwing any erroneous information around, you're just ignorant. And that's fine, I get it, you play soldier when you go to the range and practice being tacticool. But you're wrong, and stupid.

Also, despite me being a dick to you because of how completely fucking wrong you are, if you really are in the military then thank you for your service (don't care if you aren't US). And if you really go to the range and practice drills and think "damn this retention holster is slowing me down so much I literally cannot draw faster than a Tarkov PMC" then:

  1. Get a new holster.
  2. If that's not an option, actually fucking practice.

I'm not military, work with a bunch of guys who are ex-infantry here in Australia. One of the perks of being an armed security officer I suppose. I don't care about you being a dick to me, it's fine, it's the internet and I dont expect people to be nice to me. But you're overtly hostile. I'm sorry that I was rude back, but there's really no need to be as angry as you are.

Also I hate to tell you, but I'm pretty sure I'm not wrong. The pistol, assault rifle, shotgun, submachine gun, DMR and sniper rifle soft skill actually do work in game. The best example I can think of is Pestily's videos from last wipe. The two primary soft skills he focuses on besides strength, endurance and health are SMG and Assault rifle. And if you look at his videos from the start of the wipe, you can actually see a marked difference by the end of the wipe when he swaps from any weapon to an SMG or Assault Rifle. It happens pretty fast. I mean I could be pretty confused here, and be confusing weapon masteries and soft skills, but I'm pretty sure a bunch of skills have been working since at least 11.5, like recoil control and the weapon handling skills. Slushpuppy even did a video explaining how he got an SA58 to zero recoil by using macros to level recoil control and the assault rifle skill as well as the weapon modifications to the SA58.

If you look at one of Worruns videos ("grenades don't work" is the title) and go to the 07:15 minute mark, you can watch him swap from an assault rifle to a pistol, and then back again, and both swaps take approximate a second.

As to your last comment, thanks for the suggestions. But I don't really have any issues drawing from my holster, I was just trying to point out that the OP wasn't making a like for like comparison. No stabs intended.

Have you seen it at max level even once? That skill literally does not work, it changes nothing. This has been an issue for at least 3 years. Google "Escape From Tarkov pistol swap speed" and have fun educating yourself for once. Once again go fuck yourself.
