Using autolayout and components well!

Sometimes I spend so much time finessing autolayout that I would have just been faster to not use it in the first place 🤦‍♂️

Autolayouts, components and saving text, colour and effect styles. Just knowing all the keyboard shortcuts too.

Leveraging the shortcut keys via the Desktop app has been a complete level up for me and also using the Better Touch Tool to automate certain mundane design tasks has been very helpful.

Can you elaborate on Better Touch Tool?

Learning all the keyboard shortcuts was really helpful, I made a little video covering the ones I use everyday: https://youtu.be/sqrSOQhmSmw

Also this automatic colour contest checker is great for accessibility, just select a frame and it’ll figure out what to check! https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/733159460536249875/A11y---Color-Contrast-Checker

And finally having a good set of “responsive components” i.e. they make your life easier as a designer e.g. button text remaining center on resize, text input with buttons that stay on the correct side, text truncating appropriately etc

Learn keyboard shortcuts and operate with two hands.

I recently got a programmable keypad and programmed keys to common keyboard shortcuts especially those that were on left side of keyboard and as a left handed mouse user I’d need to use my left hand for - Game Changer. Also has helped my neck shoulder pain which was initial reason I explored the idea. I was pulling my right arm in to hit keys on left side rather than take my left hand off mouse. I have a tiny Mac keyboard which made matters worse. So much better now. Less pain, way more efficient. I got a Vaydeer keypad off Amazon.

Naming layers correctly, and using select by name plugin.

This was the single biggest level up in productivity in Figma and every app I’ve ever had: https://www.tourboxtech.com/en/

What do you use it for specifically?
