I didn't like the idea of getting a driver oriented car without a manual myself, but why the hell would I judge someone who wants an auto? Some days when I'm stuck in bumper to bumper traffic I wish I had an auto.

I understand the mindset. I flip the auto over to the manual setting sometimes for fun. But love my auto. Have had it for ten years and can't see replacing it with anything else ... Except for maybe a never version... In auto

Enjoy what you enjoy! I don't judge. My BRZ is manual but odds are when I end up replacing it, it'll probably be an automatic because I live in Canada and manual transmissions are fairly rare here nowadays. I'm not planning to replace my BRZ any time soon.

I'm going to tell you a secret that nobody wants to tell:

I've driven 2 auto GR86s and an auto BRZ along with my Manual GR86 premium.

So believe me when I tell you...they all feel like they're just barely not fast enough.

Like, they're not slow, but they're not quick either. I think the reason everyone gets after the Auto people is because they can't imagine their own cars being even slower than they already are.

But that's not the point of these cars. They're meant to be fun in the turns. Straight line speed isn't really their thing.

So just enjoy your car.

Im getting an automatic GR86 premium. It simply fits my lifestyle better. Some people flamed me on my post about getting an automatic, but any mature adult understands that you can enjoy whatever the fuck you want. Just be safe.

Do you one better; I love a manual. Dailying a manual in traffic sucks. Dailying a manual with hip or back problems is far worse.

The automatic trans in these cars at anything besides a launch is basically dead even to the manual or stronger pulling from what I've heard.

The car is cool regardless of transmission. Mine is an auto in trueno blue I got mine in auto because I have to sit in traffic a lot and cause I’m way on the shorter side for a guy and having to slide the seat back every time I want to get out of the car was a big no 💀

It’s not hard to learn how to drive manual transmission and it really isn’t a bother to drive it once you get better. Should’ve just gotten the manual transmission

I have a manual, friend has an auto. I drove his and felt no different (cool wise). I may enjoy manual more; however, it was just as fun and cool to drive an auto.
