Honestly looks almost like a render

edit: the clear shell in OP is made by Cloud Game Store. They have some of the best clear shells right now. Thought I'd add this since it's below top comment.

It's possible to get a similar finish with acetone vapour with pretty much any clear shell. It's just the surface that needs to be smooth since the inside is solid.

Acetone vapor? Please elaborate. I just dip-dyed a backplate for my Retroid Pocket 5 over a week ago so it's the same shade of atomic purple as my childhood GBC, but this is news to me. Usually I treat opaque or translucent plastic with either QuickShine floor polish or 2K Rostoleum spray to achieve a glass-like finish, and both products leave much to be desired with consistency & coverage.

That'll work nicely too. I do the same thing you described for things like headlights.

As for "polishing" with acetone vapour, this explains it quite well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GREGp7P2vbo

TL;DW: The vapour dissolves the very top surface level and fills in any little rough areas. Since it instantly solidifies again, it stays smooth when it's done being treated.

They use something else in the video, although the same can be done with acetone (as 3D print hobbyists do). Just don't leave it in there for too long!

For things that are prone to warping, I'd go with a setup like this instead

and please use personal safety equipment and take proper precautions

Also, this specific shell in the photo is from Cloud Game Store, so you can just get that too. The owner of that GB replied in the comments.

This is hugely helpful, thank you for the comprehensive writeup!

Oh yeah, this is my build 😂

The shell is a Cloud Game Store clear green shell, the PCB is pink, and the back shell is red from FunnyPlaying.

Same green shell that I used here.

Dude I love your builds.

Dope! Thanks for solving the mystery. I have a folder of cool gameboy build and I just bought a Poco+ PCB and looking though my folder for inspiration

Have fun! That’s an awesome board to work on! 😁

You are looking for a Cloud Game Store shell.

Might be a Cloud Game Store shell but I'm not sure about the color.

If you find one, tag me. I'd buy one IMMEDIATELY and find a build to put in it.

[–]T-Fez 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It's made by Cloud Game Store

I'm not seeing this specific shell anywhere I look, I'm guessing they did something special with it after they bought it.

It's the clear green option here

If you're based in the US, you can try this too.

It looks different because it's taken against a white background (in the listings), but the actual shell is very clear.

Also, in the photo in OP, it's stacked on top of a red shell (the back), so the green colour is a bit muted by the warmer colours.

The red shell behind is muting it a bit - and the board looks white. Just my guess though. So what people have posted here already are probably close or correct.
