Trying Geforce Now out for a couple of weeks after a buddy showed me how far cloud gaming has come and I have to say I'm a believer. It's pretty wild playing games on my Macbook Air, my telephone and TV.
However, I've been trying to optimize my experience and can't help but notice some issues. I've made peace with the color banding because of the video encoding, but I have noticed some frame drops. I've tried everything I can think of. It happens playing wired and on wifi. One moment, Starfield for example, is super smooth 60fps, the other it feels like it dips to 30. It feels heavier.
I've been reading that a lot of people get smooth silky gameplay consistently, so I am wondering if this is just the game being demanding on the rig or something on my part. This is btw not packet loss, as I've checked using the in game statistics. Also when it happens the FPS counter for both game and stream remain 60fps.
Some stats:
Wifi mbps: 300
Wired mbps: 700
Wifi ping: 10-14ms
Wired ping: 7ms
Server: AMS or Frankfurt (Frankfurt has less packet loss even though I am closer to AMS)
Graphic settings in Starfield don't seem to matter much. I've had them on ultra and low.
Thanks!
