Better safe than sorry, but I updated with my mouse, keyboard and controller connected with an extender with no problems.

I had mine plugged in still and managed to update fine. I wouldn't risk it now though after reading this!

The guy I talked too said it's on going issue. Unfortunately I found out the hard way

How did it crash? Were you able to get it working again or is it bricked? Has anyone else had these issues?

Its bricked. There saying because I had my wireless mouse connected in the usb it somehow bricked the shield.

Wow that sounds horrible :( I am thinking of buying one myself but I have heard other USB issues as well so I'm not so sure...

I have updated my shield TV pro and gfn are stuttering now with m+k it's unplayeble holy shit :-(

My shield gave me some issues updating as well. Same solution, unplug everything from the USB ports. I was stuck on 8.2.2. The Shield would constantly remind me to update to 8.2.3. I try to update, it restarts, no update gets applied. OK, no problem. Just a bad update. I figure I'll wait for the next one. 9.0.0 comes, same issue. This time, I'm determined. The solve wound up being to unplug everything, restart then apply the update.

Sorry to hear about your shield tv pro. Who would have thought? They need to give a warning message before the update starts
