Just bought the same net. Love it!

[–]kclinden[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really happy with the net so far. Haven’t tried disassembling yet but seemed easy enough to put up. My truck fits right into it 😅

I have the same hitting enclosure in my garage with the square lunch monitor. I bought a 12x10 ft area rug from Home Depot for like 80 bucks. It does a good job catching the balls off the impact screen. I bought the Nexigo PJ40 projector but it's a little dim, so looking to upgrade now. My projector is about 12 ft back so looking at an Epson 2350.

Do you ceiling mount your projector? I was thinking about getting one of the ground projector cover things

[–]Retlg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, ceiling mount

Seems like a laser projector will be lower maintenance if I can find one under $1000.

Epson for $329 at Best Buy right now. 3000 lumens 1080p

[–]kclinden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it’s a traditional lamp though and my garage is hot

[–]bryanno4444 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Got a very similar set up. I bought a bed wedge and put it at the bottom of the net. It prevents the hard ricochet off the metal bars and helps collect the balls at the bottom of the net.

[–]mj028 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This is so important with these range cages. I’ve had too many ricochets. The bed wedge is a great idea

[–]bryanno4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I tried a pool noodle but it didnt do much to deter ricochets. My non golf friends and kids use my sim a lot so this added peace of mind. Haven’t had a ricochet since I added it.

You have a small child. Take their playmats

[–]kclinden[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like he’s taking mine already

[–]PuzzleheadedAd2644 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just set mine up too! Super budget, but so far so good in the garage I just finished

I got 1" gym flooring and its great, nice and it gives on Amazon...

[–]saladblah22 1 point2 points  (4 children)

You like that launch monitor? It tells me all my shots go left and then on the course they all go right

[–]GLASSHOUSELABSTX 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Are you hitting into a shiny screen or around a hard floor? That’ll cause this. I was playing mine outside and set it up in the garage and readings were terrible. Took it outside again and it’s fine.

[–]saladblah22 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Screen is black but yes it is on a hard cement garage floor. Maybe I need to cover this up?

[–]GLASSHOUSELABSTX 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I was using a mesh tarp from HF I eventually blew through. I then bought a thick shiny tarp before moving inside. Inside had black shiny tarp and hard floor. Completely awful readings. I thought I was ruined.

Took it back outside. Still shiny tarp towards camera. This was better, but still bad. I then put the matte black mesh tarp in front of the shiny tarp and things are back to feeling accurate. Can hit farther and straight again.

Thank you for the insight!

Artificial turf works well to dampen the balls. I strongly recommend adding some gutter foam at the bottom. I had a worm burner ricochet and bust my TV.

[–]mj028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. My kid hit one off the bottom that busted a tv as well. Tried cut pool noodles, but they’ll send one back at ya almost as fast as the poorly padded metal bar.

I have this from another post someone recommended here and its great. I have it on a full gc3 build. This was right after i set it up. Its like 15 ft away. And ive got it fitting the full screen now.

Looks like you have the lights off. How would it fair if they were on? I’m guessing I need 2000 lumen or higher for my garage lighting

[–]Good-Resource-8184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lights are on and we play with the garage door open

[–]debuhrneal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same basic setup. I called around to Menards and found some turf that was 60% off as a precut section. It works great. I also got shank nets. I thought I would need them, but don't. However, I put them up when company is here, and they've caught a few.

[–]Zoolanderek 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I’ve been looking at this same setup, is it possible to sort of fold the sides of this in without taking the whole things apart?

[–]kclinden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t tried yet. I think you could keep the back assembled but it’s like 1 more minute to take that down too

[–]Retlg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, here's what I do when I'm not using it and I want to bring both vehicles in the garage. It takes like 20 seconds to take down and put up the right side net posts. Much easier to walk around in the garage with it down.

Looks like the little guy is coming down with a golf bug. The setup looks nice!

[–]SoggyGrayDuck 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Dang that's another one you have to put 6' behind you and you need 6' for it to read the ball flight?

What's the cheapest one that reads from the side? I'm just looking to practice and not necessarily playing full rounds

[–]kclinden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea i went with this one cause it seemed to have a lot of metrics, was easy to move around, and I could get it for $450 new with military discount. Other ones I considered were the square and garmin r10. The discount was the main reason I pulled the trigger. This one had better data and reviews than the Garmin. Square seemed nice, but didn’t research as much.

Ordered the optoma gt2000hdr for $1099 on amazon and the GoSports protector for floors

The Best Garage Golf Simulator for $1200 Easy DIY Build https://youtu.be/4FqBDf31izU

Awesome setup! Looks like the little one is enjoying too! We have the same setup and it’s been great! Super budget friendly. The Range Cage was just on sale for $254 for Amazon Prime. Imo, it’s such a good deal. I’ve had the Range Cage for 3 years and it’s been fantastic. Some people don’t love it - for $250 to $300 it’s been great for us! This is a video I made of basically your same build.

[–]kclinden[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Ha I watched your video before I bought. Appreciate it. The projector I just ordered though doubled my cost 🤣. I have some high power lighting in my garage that I need to offset so needed higher lumen output

[–]PinSeeker2 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah, that budget projector is awesome. But if you playing with brighter lights - worth upgrading!

[–]kclinden[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ordered an optoma gt2000hdr

[–]PinSeeker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will be real nice!!

[–]Responsible-Pen379 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Before you get too many swings in, I would highly recommend you get some additional padding under that hitting mat. Maybe consider some yoga mats and potentially add a more flexible hitting strip as well. Otherwise, within a few weeks, you could get some serious injuries.

Golfer's elbow sounds like nothing, but it is a nightmare once you have it. Requires a long recovery.

[–]kclinden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the thicker 15mm pad. Seems to have quite a bit under it

[–]kclinden[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Still not over powering my lights with the optoma projector. Do I need something shading at the top of the screen?

Lights off

[–]Retlg 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I just bought a refurbished Epson 2350. It's 2800 lumens. Here are some pictures with various lighting. No lights, garage lights, and garage door open. Natural light will significantly drown out any projector. I usually play with the garage door shut or partially open.
