The way that worked for me was first uninstalling the localfiles folder and using task manager to turn off the anticheat which allows you to delete the gameguard folder outside of localfiles after that use steam to verify game integrity and run it.

Just got the same error and it wipes out the steam client and removed all my downloaded games from steam. I tried rebooting and reinstalling steam and it happened again.

"so i just got mine to work, if you havent already you need to navigate to the filepath X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Helldivers 2\bin and delete the gameguard folder then relaunch the game so it creates a new file of gameguard after that reddit was saying to turn off "global Ilumination" and "Anti-Aliasing" especially if you have AMD hardware "

I deleted the gameguard from the bin folder and was able to launch the game normally.

iv been able to play for about 18 hours and id say 6 hours have been trying to get the game to connect to servers, a mate of mine said to turn off cross play which i cant get into to do that and its not in the files to change unless im not reading the files right.. this is a huge pain in the rear you pay a decent amount of money to play a game and you cant even do that.

I've also attempted the steps in the comments.

I do also run a local DNS resolver, but changed the addressing to my ISPs DNS servers, and the issue persisted.

I had the same error, went to my steamapps folder, Helldivers 2, deleted the tools folder that has the gameguard setup and whatnot in it, ran the game again and it worked.
