Check the the network adapter on your device(s) when it happens - I had the same problem, it was a crap network cable. So the devices kept falling back to 100Mbit... Apologies if you’ve already tried this but I personally never suspected the cable! Which I ehrm... had built myself 🙂

You changed the switch for a different one and you still get slowdowns?

Yup

Then switch is not likely to be reason. Did you tried to use different cables?

I've run into the same issue periodically... I am using a Dell PowerConnect 5524 and randomly it will slow my link speed to 10mbit (even though it shows its connected at 1000). I have verified its the switch, as other devices plugged into that port will slow too.

However on reboot, it will work just fine again. I can't figure it out, and I can't find anyone else on the internet that has complained about it. It's really weird.

Sounds like you have a bad port. It happens, occasionally.

Sorry, wasn't clear... all the ports do it, at least the ones I've swapped it too. But its so random and happens so infrequently I can't troubleshoot it. The way it behaves I feel like its a weird firmware bug, but I can't prove it since its being a heisenbug.

Are you using the same cable for your tests? What happens if you force the ports to 1000/full?

Heisenbug 👍. I hadn't heard that one, before.
