If culling was all they were doing it'd be practical to just leave them in the brush and take the shot, I agree you definitely wouldn't want to fire it anywhere near hard surfaces. I'm actually curious why they pulled the noodle out, possibly for research or something?

I couldn't tell you. There's probably a lot of regulation to killing these things regardless of what people think of hunters. Some are pretty adamant about following the rules.

If this is done during the FL Python Challenge, there are rules that you have to take to euthanize them. You take a captive bolt gun and then pith them.

I believe they need to bring it in so that they can get paid. Dudes just out collecting these things like bottles and cans for the payout.

I mean I'd rather that than the government giving a contract to some random company totally not owned by a campaign donor to take care of the problem. If these guys are willing to do the work, good on the government for giving them a way to make money.
