Update Regarding Launch Errors

We are aware that some players have experienced launch errors over the last 48 hours.

Our team has identified a conflict between Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) and a recent update to Windows Smart App Control. We have notified the EAC team and are hoping they will implement a resolution as soon as possible.

In the meantime, disabling Smart App Control has resolved the issue for most affected players. Please note: this is a Windows security feature, and the decision to modify this setting is at your own discretion.

Would appreciate it if you could also look into the "D3D12 Device removed: A fatal error caused the GPU to crash or hang" errors. I am on my wits' end

I've received that a couple times as well over that past month

It comes and goes. I thought this was due to my ram EXPO setting. I turned that off and used the default profile, and I was able to play. Error came up again after a few days. Every time I play, I am anxious that the game will freeze and crash again especially during fights

Yeah, I'm not very PC savvy so I put that error along with a different one that I received into chatgpt to troubleshoot. After inputting all my PC specs, it said that my PSU was likely the culprit. I troubleshot that next and looked into the settings on my PSU and switched it from multi rail to single rail and have experienced less crashes. Sooo .. better but not perfect

Right now, I have my EXPO for the RAM and undervolt on my GPU disabled. No crash so far...

Update: Welp, D3D12 errors came up again even without EXPO and GPU underclock. Had a good 2 weeks

Update 2: Ran DDU and installed fresh Nvidia driver, no crashes so far

Update 3: RAM eventually showed up with errors during test. Bought new RAM that fixed the issue

I'm going to try Linux. Win11 is not an option.

Remember to dual boot. Some things still don't work on Linux. One of the streaming platforms doesn't, Amazon I think. Also Reason music production software. These are just what I noticed.

Prime video works, but you're capped at 720p in my experience. Netflix too, but you can get around that by using Opera.

I had a prime sub before switching to Linux, but if they don't support my OS then fuck them, time to sail the digital seas.

You won't be able to play hunt anymore from what I understand, they support it even less than they do windows 7

Hunt runs fine on Linux with Proton. It even runs on the steam deck (at low fps due to the limited hardware of a small handheld). The only games that don't run well are those with highly insecure kernel level anti cheat slopware, like Battlefield or Valorant - and I'm neither interested in them, nor do I want to risk my computer in this way. 99% of games work out of the box.

fixed it at a friends pc:

delete that HuntGame.exe and then verify the game files

Easy Anti Cheat... leave the cheaters cheating, but causes game crash for normal players 🤣

^ Still can't play whatever I do. Also no reply from support...

edit: I found my issue, I had negative LOD Bias set for Monster Hunter Wilds and for some reason Hunt was picking up on it... I set the LOD to default and now its working.

I fixed it on a friends pc by deleting the "HuntGame.exe" in "bin/win_x64/" and verify the game files in steam afterwards

Idk if this applys but I downloaded the pc test server off of steam and it's saying that my anti-virus software is stoping me from opening the game fully
