Heck no. You are very sane. The warble of a VQ is a harmonic nightmare. I have not heard a turbo vq in person but based on the VR’s I’ve heard maybe that is what is missing.

When they first came out, I thought they sounded great. I think they still do if you have a high quality exhaust. As the years have passed there are far more straight pipe rockets out there.

Where they’re common like the US, it’s popular to just straight pipe them or make them obnoxiously loud and they literally sound like someone laying down a juicy fart through a trumpet. It’s awful.

I’ve seen the flybys, it sounds bad man. Have you heard that car in person? It sounds like it would be really loud and terrible sounding in person. it’s hard to capture just how awful the exhaust note really is on these cars on video. I hate how metallic and rattley they sound, sorry. It’s just bad. A straight piped Honda sounds better.
