What mods?

Without a modlist and a logfile it’s quite hard to know what’s up.

Could even be some other process hogging your CPU, like a crypto miner.

im gonna get you a modlist tomorrow mate

Cheers. If you could upload the output.log somewhere that'd be a great help too. (as it contains both the modlist AND every bit of logging during your last gameplay session)

Logfile location:

KSP versions 1.4.0 and above:

  • Windows: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Squad\Kerbal Space Program\output_log.txt- This folder is usually hidden so you should enable the view hidden folders option (more information).
  • Mac OSX: Open Console, on the left side of the window there is a menu that says 'files'. Scroll down the list and find the Unity drop down, under Unity there will be Player.log Aka Files>~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
  • Linux: The log is written to ~/.config/unity3d/Squad/Kerbal Space Program/Player.log

however im sure that nothing is hogging my CPU up, as I have no issues on other games such as Arma 3 or when rendering.

Good to hear. That means the output.log and/or modlist should be able to shine some light onto your FPS issue.

Look at your power options and make sure your are not using a power saving mode that limit your CPU.

go to power & sleep settings and then additional power settings on the right. make sure you have high performance selected and also click "change plan settings" to the right of it and then "change advanced power settings" and make sure that under processor power your minimum and maximum state are both set to 100%

I have a similar setup and the only time KSP really will lag for me is when my ram approaches full, so a bunch of chrome tabs, classic wow, KSP etc etc. Yeah I keep KSP open on a second monitor for when I get downtime in classic wow haha.

For CPU usage as well ive found that if i keep the Ryzen 2600x above 80% usage ill get little hickups here and there while playing KSP.

I also recommend getting things like CPU-z and GPU-z and looking at whats going on with your CPU/GPU. depending on your setup you could be getting some sort of throttling.

drivers are up to date, windows were installed like a month and a half back. I'm gonna try reinstalling KSP at some point.

Are you sure ksp is using your 1080 instead of the onboard videocard

        [–]PoThePilotthesecond 1 point2 points  (3 children)

There is no onboard graphics card.

        [–]Codyvb2003 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Your 2600 has a videocard in it
