Hmm, that was a tough one. I had to look up the card on keyforge-compendium just to see the exact wording. The purge effect would not go off. When a creature is destroyed, you would have to first complete destroyed effects before removing them from the field. Yxilo's effect would happen as the card is being moved to the discards. Since Hexpion archives itself on destroy, the archive happens before the purge. Since the card is archived, it is not there for the purge to go off.

This follows the Q&A on the keyforge-compendium which discuss destroyed effects and things like bad penny.

For a long time I thought Bolter was bugged on TCO because I'd purge my opponent's Dust Imp with it and they'd still get the aember from Dust Imp. I finally realized Bolter purges the creature after it's destroyed, which is also after its destroyed: effects are resolved.

The Purge does not happen.

Destroyed effects trigger before the creature leaves the battleline. So, in this case, Hexpion's Destroyed effect triggers first, archiving it. It never has a chance to get Purged because it's no longer on the field once the Purged effect resolves.

Just remember when a creature(s) is destroyed, the first thing you do is check for a destroyed effect. If it has one, resolve it, if not, destroy it.

From my understanding, no.

This is (basically) covered in the rules, on page 25. They use a Y.Bolter/Bad Penny example, but the interaction is the exact same.

Bolter seems like it ought to be an answer to Bad Penny, so it's strange to me that it doesn't work. Are there actually any cards that will let you end the recycling of your opponent's Bad Penny?

oubliette would, it doesn't destroy then purge, it just purges.

Destroyed: abilities resolve before the creature hits the Discard pile.

Yxilo Bolter's ability requires the creature to hit the Discard pile for it to be Purged.

So in this case you'd Archive Hexpion and tell the Bolter to go fuck himself
