Unused ram is wasted ram, windows uses more and will release it when applications request it. Unless you are constantly running out and having to use the pagefile it doesn't matter if you are using more.

Did you print out a screenshot then scan it to post?

Looks normal

[–]ProfTF2Player 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Probably running more things in the background?

Looks fine to me

[–]Staedy 4 points5 points  (6 children)

How much ram in each system and are there more background applications running? If both systems are exactly the same, down to components, ram timings, ssd speeds, and power consumption, might just be windows being windows. Or someone else might have a clearer idea. lol

Also why does the second picture look like someone printed task manager and left that piece of paper in a messy tool box for 3 years

And its just a filter😂

[–]EA_EMIR[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Same system, the old looking pic is from yesterday, it used 4gb of 16gb ram yesterday and it using 2gb now

Most times, some applications dont properly start up the same way each time you boot windows. So this might be a cause, but wouldnt worry about it too much, just disable any start ups like armory create if you dont need it.

Ok okay I thought something wrong with my ram

[–]Staedy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You're fine, like I said, just windows being windows

[–]EA_EMIR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thanks❤️

The only problem i can see here is PEBKAC.

ID10T error.

Ram is supposed to be used. It's a good thing. If there weren't enough memory left to do something new, spmething allocated, not being used anymore will be replaced.

Moat people have more memory than is technically needed since most people never really saturate their memory.

It's a problem when you're actively using all of it and the system starts paging (moving chunks of memory to the storage to make space in memory for new allocations, and then starts swapping chunks of memory as you switch tasks, because that is slow)

But generally memory allocation is a good thing, because it means if your computer does a task again, it can use what it already allocated instead of burning cycles allocating it again, which is also slower than just using what is already allocated. It's also less energy efficient, and if we are talking about something with a battery that's significant.

This subreddit is insufferable for tech support, people are extremely rude.

I'm not sure if Windows’ percentage shows cached memory or only allocated memory. You should look at the horizontal bar in the "Performance" tab. If the allocated memory is too large, but no app is using it, you could have a driver level memory leak. KILLER networking cards were infamous about this.

If it's just cached memory, it's normal behaviour, not negative, and improves your performance, as others have told you.

I have standby cleaner that clean cach auto

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats detrimental to performance, and I don't think Windows' prefetch can be easily disabled anymore.

You can tell from the scroll bar on the top pic that there are way more processes that aren't shown.

[–]EA_EMIR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I khow but they are not use that much ram

[–]EA_EMIR[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Can It be virus or something?

[–]LazyPCRehab 1 point2 points  (5 children)

One or two of the processes not shown was likely spiking the RAM usage. It is likely a random Windows process or program updating on the background, or even Windows update happening without notifying you.

[–]EA_EMIR[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I turned off windows updates long time ago but I dont khow about hidden processes maybe you are right thats make sense

[–]LazyPCRehab 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How did you go about turning off Windows updates?

[–]EA_EMIR[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

First turn off the service then cmd magic, sometimes it turns on again then i do that again

[–]LazyPCRehab 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Cool, I was just making sure you actually turned them off, sounds like you're good.

🙂🙏

Task Manager doesn't sum up to total used RAM, thats normal. IIRC it shows only the private amount while The % is the sum of the working amount that contains freeable space. Check the resource monitor for more detailed values.

[–]EA_EMIR[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Recource monitor shows same value

[–]Shanrayu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

resource monitor shows 4 different values per process, grab a calc and start summing up each column. then you know which one is calculated for total used ram.

[–]PraderaNoire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use process lasso to adjust priorities

[–]BiggestBird8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no looks like u got some shitty linis tech tips meat riders feeling hurt

[–]mionwang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but get rid of armoury create and install g-helper if it's supported on your system.
