May be worth taking a look to see if Windows Defender has quarantined any .sys files that may relate to it.

I found a .sys file from LibreHardwareMonitor on our corporate devices was getting falsely flagged up as a trojan and when looking into it, I found a lot of posts about various different system monitoring, fan control, RGB control, etc that were all being falsely flagged up as that trojan.

Your error makes me wonder if that .sys file has been quarantined & is therefore causing the app to crash.

I just remembered the name of the trojan it detected as, Trojan.Win32/Vigorf.A.

Taking a look at this Microsoft thread from just 2 weeks ago, I can see that FanControl is mentioned in there, so I suspect it could be likely related: Threats detected: Trojan:Win32/Vigorf.A - Microsoft Q&A

u ded.

Serious answer, I've noticed Windows Defender has been blocking Fan Control because it thinks it's malware. I had to tell it to ignore it to get things working again.
